When the Warning dialog box appears, click OK.
The dialog box should display: USB handheld found, then click OK.
Ensure that the Connection field displays USB-PIN and click OK.
Click Start, Control Panel and then double click the Phone ...

actually....i don't think it uses minutes....you have to have an unlimited data plan to "tether" your phone to the laptop.

chainmail311 is correct is does not use minutes becuase you have an unlimited date feature, although unlimited is to an extent being that if t-mobile considers it excessive usage they will terminate your contract, being that it is that their opinion of what is trulyto much usage

it's a "soft cap". 5 gigs. So, don't use limewire/bit torrent and you'll be okay. Every carrier has an unlimited plan, and the "soft" cap is usually 5 gigs. Sprint is the only carrier that says, "however much you wanna do."
