UMA?
Hey All,
I've heard of the @home. I have not signed up for it though, really don't need it.
I tried switching my phone off, and just having the wifi radio on, and to my surprise I still was receiving calls. The network shows UMA. Am I going to be charged for this? Did tmobile sign me up for @home without telling me?
Thanks,
Joe

No! if you have your wifi turned on the phone, (that is) if you have the settings set to do this, will select wifi automatically, and you will be able to make and receive calls. you do not have to sign up for a plan cause t-mobile has a voice over internet network. And yes if you do not have the wifi hot spot @ home plan you use your minutes, unless it is nights or weekends, but so what if you use your phone you use your minutes anyway. But so what you switch on your wifi and have high speed internet access and data. it is good to have cause even though your house is in a good reception spot, you may be in a mall or building or someplace that does not have good cell coverage but they may have a wifi network, and wow your phone will work, an...

Thanks,
This is the best phone i've had so far. The reception with the uma, was just as good as cellular. I couldn't tell the difference. I'm never home otherwise the @home plan would probably be useful.

I don't have that plan cause I do not use that many minutes, But that plan works anywhere their is wifi! if you are at starbucks or anywhere their is a wifi network. if I used my phone for work or used more minutes I would get that plan, cause I have a wifi network at home & work & at burger king, I was at the mall the other day and found a wifi network I was able to get on.

This is such a good service from t-mobile. It's golden. one question - does it work outside the US? If I were to go to Mexico, connect to a wifi and try to make a call, would it be the same as if doing it in my house from the US? because internet is internet wherever you are... or does tmobile have some way of distinguishing?
Thanks in advance.
