When you click the shutter, it takes a second or so to autofocus and actually record the picture. If you click and move, you're moving the camera while the shutter is still open. So, yes, hold the camera still after you click the shutter. You'll see the autofocus kick in and it will display the save/send/erase option when the picture has been taken.

that's not what i mean...i know that the camera takes a few seconds to autofocus and then takes the picture... my problem is whenever i push the save picture button, if i don't hold it totally still, then it turns blurry...you can't tell it's blurry until you look at it in the photo library... i'm not sure if anyone else is having that problem...

thanks...

The camera is probabely programmed to take pictures using slow shutter speeds. The slower the shutter speed, the lighter the picture will come out but also you need to hold the camera very still to compensate for the slow shutter speeds.

This phone has auto-focus... which means a lens that moves in and out in front of the actual sensor. However, this isn't a regular digital camera.. there is no shutter.

Most camera-phones use CMOS sensors because of their lower power consumption and smaller size. Most full-on digital cameras use CCD because of it's clarity and available higher resolutions.

Because of the differences in these technologies and the uses each were designed for, CMOS cameras don't need a shutter to "cut off" the amount of light being let it onto the sensor chip.

Anyway, back to topic....

...I haven't had this problem with my Voyager. I hold still until I see the Save/Send/Erase options and then just go from there.

I guess the only advice I can gi...

If it goes out of focus after the picture is actually taken, then I'd say there's a problem. I haven't seen anything like that.

i have the same problem. the people replying to this probably don't even have the phone, but probably know a lot about "shutters". the phone in my opinion is a piece of crap, my speaker and voice mic went dead and i've only had the phone about 3 weeks, it feezes constantly... and all of this even after verizon applied the "fix-it-all" update to my phone. now i have to wait about a week for a replacement, meanwhile im sure verizon will still be charging me my regular monthly fee...

If it's a piece of crap then what does that say about you? A person that pays and keeps something they do NOT like is not too bright.

Sorry for the ignorance, but how do I get the latest firmware upgrade?

My camera has the same issue...I hold it very still until after I can see the save/send/erase button, and it still comes out blurry, or if I move the phone say, to my lap to hit save, it'll take the picture of my lap!!!

Also, does anyone have to click the camera button twice to take their pictures? Or just me?

It still sounds to me as if you aren't working the camera function correctly. However take the phone to a verizon store and ask for the firmware upgrade. It will take a few minutes depending on how busy they are. If it still exhibits this behavior, then either the phone is defective or you are having problems wtih the interface. I found the phone a bit confusing at first. Perhaps when you take the phone in, you could ask them to confirm your understanding of how the camera function works.

yeah, I'm definitely confused. I've tried so many times to figure out why it constantly comes out blurry (even after I hit 'save'), but like you said, it's best to take it in and get some help!! 😁 Thanks for the reply!

Mine was even stranger. I took the picture. It looked great. Later in the gallery it was a mass of blur. I have never seen this before. But it's not just the voyager. My friend has a samsung (like the flipshot) and it also happned to him. The stranage part was he shot the pic, pushed send to send it to me and later in his gallery it was blurred. HOWEVER, when I got it it was perfectly clear! Go figure that one out!!! Glad to hear updating Sw might help. Otherwise the camera takes incredible pictures. 1-2 inches from center of a flower and CLEAR!! I actually bought this phone for the camera (my hobbby). I don't care for the locking feature on the touch screen when in todays world you have to keep pushing numbers when calling people.
