Why is Data Plan a MUST? When I spoke to C/S they just 'suggested' I get it, but didn't insist on it.

Since Voyager is the first phone to use an HTML browser that isn't a PDA or Smart phone, and because the phone is not even out yet, there seems to be a lot of confusion from VZW sales over which plans cover the Voyagers browser.

One guy told me that the unlimited usage referred to in the various nationwide plans refers to Mobile Web 2.0 and not the HTML browser. He advised that, just like Verizon's PDA's and Smart phones require a separate data plan, so would the Voyager.

He went on to explain that not everyone who purchases the Voyager would choose to use the browser and use of the feature would incur additional cost.

I told him the option to select a separate data plan was not listed when pre-ordering. He said I would have to pr...

there was a lot of misinformation on this which will hopefully be cleared up before retail release of the phone. as i posted earlier on this site i was informed by one of our own data reps that the $45 dollar data plan would be necessary. the same rep changed her story the next time i talked to her and said that she had been misinformed. they released an online training for employees which should clear up the issue. unfortunately i haven't gotten a chance to read it to say for sure.

I finished the traning on friday and 45.00 data plan is not required on this device since it is not a pda or blackberry. The vcast feat or 25.00 mob tv feat will work and give you unlimted data on the optomized browser.

Better get that training done ASAP!! lol I've already got 15 people ready to get the phone w/ the premium plan on the 21st

Data plan is not required for HTML.

For the html browser you can either pay $1.99 per MB or pay the $15 Vcast/Mobile Web feature and avoid those fees. The other option, and in my opinion the best if your already getting the select plan for unlimited text, is to just get signed up on the premium plan so you have access to the navigation and mobile email feature. It's only $20 more than the select plan and gives you $30 worth of features.

Exactly...VCast ($15) is going to be fine for both Mobile Web 2.0 and the HTML browsing. From there, if you want to have MobileTV, just get the $25 pkg. Or like MobileMonekey said, get the Premium Plan and get everything included and just pay a little extra for the MobileTV. As far as th...

monkey.. My question being that you have the phone(voyager) already is, how great is the html browser? Does it open up full web screens like the PDA's do? In other words, I had the vx 6700 and the windows mobile 5 internet explorer was great. It opened full screens just like on a pc. I know this doesn't have the new windows mobile 6 explorer but will it open everything just like it? This detail might make it or break it for me, otherwise, I'll pick up the new samsung PDA.. Incidently, what type of browser does the I-phone use? I know that's a sick browser, and its not windows. It had my entire myspace page unzoomed on the screen. Last question, when does it officially drop? (the voyager)Can i walk into the store and pre order now? 😎
