BlackBerry Curve 8310

I have a BlackBerry Curve 8310 and I recently started having some problems with charging the battery. What happens is that I will charge it and I will notice an hour or so later that the light has turned off. Thinking that the plug has come loose, I will unplug the charger and plug it back in again. Sometimes the light does not immediately come on like it's supposed to. Sometimes I have to jiggle the charger while it's plugged into the phone and the light will come on and the phone resumes charging. It's as though there is something that has to have contact made in the plug part itself in order for the phone to charge. Other than this charging issue, there is nothing else wrong with it.
