robtheman,

First off, you are the man if your name is Rob. I'm hoping your screenname is not referring to thievery.

More importantly, I am very close to buying this phone online, but had a few quick ?'s first.

1) Are the arrow keys on the D-pad customizable? It doesn't look like they have icons on the phone, and it'd be nice if they were.

2) The phone doesn't open straight up does it? i.e. is there an angle in the phone when flipped open...Im hoping so.

3) Any verdict on the T9 learning words?

4)Speakerphone. You mentioned its awesome. Can it be left on all the time, or does it auto shut off? Can you use speakerphone with the phone closed?

Thanks in advance for your input and answers on the FlipShot...

1) You can customize the D-pad.

2) There is a little bit of an angle when it's open. It's pretty similar to the a990 in that respect.

3) No idea. I don't use T9. I'm not sure how I would go about telling it to learn words, but I'll give it a shot if you tell me how to do it.

4) The speaker phone shuts itself off after every call, but the speaker phone does work while the phone is closed.

Wow...surprisingly good features. Thanks for the quick help.

As for T9, I believe that the way it learns words is simply by typing them in via normal abc text entry, and then after the message is sent, you should be able to start a new txt msg, enter text in T9 form, hit the keys as if you were spelling the new word (any non-dictionary word that was previously sent) and it should recognize it.

I could be wrong, though, that is just how I believe my current LG phone learns words...

If that's how it works, then it doesn't seem to learn words.

It could probably learn words, but you have to manually enter them each time.
