Question about ringtones

Hello,

I'm considering getting one of these phones as an upgrade for my ancient VX6000, and because Verizon is bugging me to upgrade.. So I looked online at the list of available phones and this is the most expensive one I can get for free lol.

Anyway, I want to get things right if I'm to upgrade, as I got my VX6000 simply by pointing at whatever looked good back then. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about its ringtones.

I usually dislike the standard ringtones, so I want to know if anyone has customized theirs in any way. What I hope for is easy support of your own custom MP3 files as ringtones, but failing that, is there any way to put one of your own songs on it as a ringtone? I know there's the vzwtones thing but it just...

Bit pim.org amazing site. Convert mp3 songs to ringtones and transfers them to your phone via data cable. I dunno if it supports the VX8350 though yet... i know it does for the 8300...

Hello,

Thanks I checked out bitpim, it seems like a very useful tool, but it requires the data cable, which I'm not sure is out yet for the 8350..

Has anyone else tried other methods? Maybe via the microSD card, or sending it to yourself via a message?

Thanks again

if it is like any of the newer LG's then it would most likely have that feature that lets you send it to yourself and save as a sound or ringtone, but i havent tried it personally. 🙂

I have the LG 8100. My laptop has bluetooth. I just enable the phone's bluetooth and search with my laptop for the phone(discover available services) then click on serial connection and enable it. It will ask the general bluetooth password 0000. When the serial connection is good the computer will show it. But the phone will show nothing connected, but it is. I have loaded many pictures, contacts, ringtones etc. to the phone over bluetooth serial connection. It works very fast too. I will be getting the 8350 on Nov. 19. Got it down on my calendar now. New every two baby.
If you don't have bluetooth already on your computer, just get a cheap adapter and use that. No prob.

The standard ringtones aren't anything to rave about. There were more ringtones to choose from on my old LG VX4400B. I sent myself a picture message of Beethovens_fifth from "My Sounds" & was able to save the sound as a ringtone. I am going to try recording a song, send myself a message & save it as a ringtone towards the end of the week. You might want to try sending your photos/txt messages to your email address & sending it back to your cell phone # after you have activated the new phone. If you are registered as a "My Account" user, then you can download Backup Assistant for free & this will backup all of your contacts online where you can print them & transfer them to a new phone. If you are not able download Backup Assistant on t...

Well with my 8100 i used bitpim and transfered pics, songs and ringtones to my phone using the phones bluetooth. I bought a usb bluetooth adapter for my pc and it worked like magic. I dont know if the 8350 can do this but if you can its great. And to get your pics ont your new phone the easiest method is probably pixplace.

Yes, pics can be emailed also. I have done so without any problems. Also, I turned on Bluetooth on the 8350 and have exchanged pics and sounds back and forth between the phone and my laptop without a hitch.

I'm having problems getting my Bitpim to work like it does on my 8100. I keep getting a blocked error. How did you get yours to go?

The ringtones for the LG 8350 are disappointing and I was very used to the small '.mp3' ringers I had created for my motorola phones. Everything else about the phone, I love. You got several suggestions about sending a picture message to yourself or your PC (then reply with attached sound, etc.).
It would of great interest to me, if someone had success with that.
About the picture transfer part of your question... That, and MP3 music files, I have done. Both ways, copying to the MicroSD chip (that I had to format in the phone, because it sets up folders the LG 8350 expects to copy to and from) and Bluetooth, as well.
