ok, this may sound like a dumb question... so bare with me...

would it be possible to buy this phone and activate it on another CDMA carrier? such as verizon?

i notice that helio and verizon are both CDMA and both use 850/1900 and EVDO

any ideas?

I doubt it, since Verizon has a strict policy on their Phone OS, all having to be the same.

The Helio phones use a more advanced OS with more features and everything unlocked, while for some reason Verizon dumbs down the menus into something I honestly hate. (used to be verizon)

So you could try to ask them, but you would most likely have to change your software in order to meet with that policy.

No.

Sprint phones are locked, and I'm pretty sure Helio phones are, too. Unlike GSM phones, there's no easy way to unlock CDMA phones. They're just not designed for it. In the cases where it can be done at all, it requires a code (unique password for that phone only) that you simply can't get (the carrier, such as Sprint, keeps it in a database that they keep locked up like Fort Knox).

Even if you could unlock it, it would require crazy programming with secret hidden menus to get it working on another carrier.

...and even if you could do that, none of the advanced features would work. You could make phone calls, but that's it. All of the CDMA carriers use different technologies for things like MMS, web, PTT, ringers, games, etc. Eve...
