I also was torn between the V9 and the Curve. Wound up going for the Curve since the sound quality is just as good and you get much more bang for the buck (a lot less bucks for the curve). Have been a Moto fan for a long time but just wanted something different for a change. Am very happy with the Curve. Yes, you can lock the keys, either by icon on the screen or assigning the task to one of the side keys.

I am not sure why, but Moto and AT&T seem to really like the reddish mahogany colour. Even the upcoming revised V9 is still going to be in that colour.
