Is this a Moto thing, or AT&T thing??

That would be a Motorola thing. They just package the basics and have you buy the others.

That is my feeling on this phone. I happen to think its a damned nice phone, but way, way over priced. At $150, more or less is the most this is really worth.

If you are buying the AT&T brand phone, then the choice is AT&T's. You'll notice from how the Hong Kong variants are packaged (deluxe) and the way that the unbranded V8's are packaged that Motorola would prefer to include more equipment.
