No Cdma Vesrion for Verizon?

Verizon already has a test version, but who knows if it will pass tests. If it does expect to see it 2nd quarter.

Maybe that is why they are selling the Q for so cheap along with the RAZR... to make room for the new RAZR MAXX and a Q9.

Not to burst anyones bubble, but the original Q was originally designed for Cingular(just like the RAZR) we had our hands in it from the start. It was being tested by our network team in February 06', but after it failed miserably by our standards Moto made a CDMA version and sold it to Verizon. Maybe next time Verizon will do a little research on their products before hurriedly launching them. (i.e.- the Q, the chocolate, etc...)

Then explain why I had a GSM version in my hand in February 06' that was being tested by our network team! Next you'll tell me the RAZR was built for Verizon first too. Nokia & Motorola make GSM phones first than they change them to CDMA if the demand is there. Why wouldn't they 80% of the wireless customers in the world use GSM, I think they would rather market to the masses and not to the minority. Just makes good business sense don't you think?

They did rename it from just Q9 to Q9h. The "h" stands for HSDPA, which implies that there will be other versions for other technologies. A Q9m or Q9e would not surprise me.

Remember there is the h for HSPDA (or whatever they are calling it now) and the g which is standard GSM with EDGE technology.
Will Verizon get one, probably, but not with the launch of the GSM. At least for now this is the GSM launch, I think if it is successful will see a CDMA version by December.

With all the problems that the Q has it was smart to re-design the gadget for the GSM market. I hope you are referring to Verizon's Latin America division switching to GSM, because if you are speaking of Verizon as a whole switching to GSM, you have lost your mind. No such commitment has been made.

Correct Verizon Latin America is switching to GSM bandwidth, not Verizon North America. Verizon North America sold off the Latin America division because it wanted to focus on it's North American offerings.
Actually WCDMA is not necessarily close to CDMA or GSM, that is why some manufactures are complaining about paying fees to Qualcomm, that it should be much less then CDMA since WCDMA is not closely related to CMDA.

if cingular didnt have so much echoing when you are on the phone, they might be good. Otherwise they overall suck. Plus there phones are horrible. Any normal person has to repair their phone like 5 or 6 times in a 2 year period. Overseas cingular is great, but overall? ha. Lowest dropped calls? HA. in Los Angeles cingular is the worst with dropped calls. best of luck to anyone who has cingular.
