I've had the iphone since the week of its arrival and since then there hasn't been any major updates really.
When are we going to see a firmwire update to fix some of the things that SHOULD have been fixed a long time ago?
Things such as MMS, AIM, maybe video capture, 3G would be nice and I heard that COULD be added through firmwire, lets see what else, maybe a voice recorder?
Theres a million and one things a free phone offered by any carrier does that the iPhone cant.
Weather there important things or not,..they should have been added to such an expensive phone.

Don't get me wrong I love my iPhone, I just wish it did the things that all my old phones did!

So back to my question;; when will we see a major firmwire update?

I agree. A significant firmware update would be really nice, but I don't see this happening if the iphone 2 release is near. If Steve Jobs announces that the iphone2 wont be out until late 2008 or early 2009, then we can probably expect an update to the original one that we have.

A few things that would be huge to me would be:

1) MMS
2) File explorer (ability to open and save office documents)
3) SlingBox media capability
4) Camera enhancements (zoom, video capture?)

I would love to see these changes.. but who knows..

First off:

No 3G on original model ever: This is not available for a firmware upgrade. That would be a hardware issue. HONEST to goodness, 3G isn't avaiable everywhere, so it's not even a huge issue. It's just something haters use to say why they think it's bad. 3G isn't even all that great, when 4G is just around the corner.
