Oct 24, 2007, 10:39 AM
- I really hope someone can help - I can't seem to find anywhere where you can text with T9 or something to that affect from the front key pad -
The whole reason I bought this phone was because I wanted a PDA phone but I didn't want to text from that same keyboard at bottom of phone - when I say this phone with the number pad on the front - i could not Imagen it would not have some kind of T9 function from the front. - Please please help I really like the phone so far thanks again

I would really like to know the answer to this as well. It would be a major plus if you could use the keypad to text with T9 or equal and not always have to use the keyboard.

Just read a user review from cnet that would be able to tell you about the experience of using TP text on the front of the phone.

T9 for texting from the front panel instead of using the keyboard. if you text alot have figured out a setting to make the phone alert you when it's screen is shut down. Right now to see if I have a text I have to pull it out of a the case then search for the power button.

I have had the phone only a few days and came from a Treo 700w. On the Treo when a text came in the screen would turn on and the msg would be displayed for a bit at the bottom of the screen, just long enough to read it without going to Outlook. The i760, as I am sure most of you know, only makes a sound or vibration and flashes the LED.

For anyone wanting the more aggressive notification, I have found that phoneAlarm does the trick. There is a setting in the Alarms tab that lets you have the screen turn on or stay off with notifications. Then under the Profiles tab you can set each type of alarm (SMS, MMS, Vmail..) to either have a pop-up or not. Seems to be working well for me.
