Front screen

I a samsung in the past were the front screen was on all the time and I was able to tell the time. Is there anyway to set up the U540 like that or do I just have to hold down the side button everytime I need the time. Thanks for the help.

This Samsung uses the new Verizon UI, and I don't see any option to keep the front screen on all the time. Even turning backlight to 'always on' doesn't do it. Sorry.

I've seen one on display that had the front screen always on (not a dummy phone), but when question tech. service dude he said there must be something wrong with that phone.
