No, u didnt read that correctly. There is no new unlocking legislation. The only thing that happened is that the Copyright Office issued a ruling holding that unlocking would be exempt from the DMCA. It does not require carriers to unlock a phone on demand.

In my opinion it really depends on what you want if you want a phone that is.....cooler than everyones go with the apple.....if a 2gb memory card can hold you music selection (thats at least 500 songs) and of course you can change them........then go Black and don't go back. The Apple phone will be cool and capable of a huge library of music but as far as its other capabilities all I have to say is no UMTS why waste your time......d...o...w...n...l...o....a......d.. ...i......n.......g But if you need a $500 extension to your manhood then I guess go Iphone.

I personaly wouldnt even begin to consider an iphone till at least the second revision. Besides the fact that the iphone comes with a starting price of $499 (4gig) or $599 (8gig) versus the BJ Free (with 2 year contract on letstalk.com), the iphone is lacking some conciderable features that the BJ has. The iphone does not have 3G, text messaging (MMS), corprate email, and the new safari for it has serious security issues right now. The iphone like every other Mac product is nothing but hype with a huge price tag.

My guess is that you'll be waiting for months to get an iPhone with the demand so high. I'd opt for the Blackjack. It's cheaper by a long shot.
