I specifically called AT&T to find out for sure, since I have been told both. The rep verified that while the blackjack will work with just media net, they will eventually catch it, and upgrade you to the pda connect plan without letting you know. So if you want unlimited internet, you will have to get the $39.99 plan. The one bonus right now, is that there is a promotion that gives you 1,500 text messages included with that.

I have this plan, and am loving it!

Hope that helps you out.
