My friend has this and I have the pearl, we want to switch(he is on Cingular and I am on Tmobile) Would this be possible and how compatible would they be? Internet, media, etc.

Technically it would work. The phone has to be unlocked obviously but you will lose functionality specific to T-mobile. There could be issues with texting and voice mail notifications. There's usually drawbacks to unlocked, unbranded phones on any carrier.
