Why doesn't QWERTY work while searching contacts?

When I'm searching for contacts by typing on the QWERTY keyboard, the phone acts like I'm typing on an ordinary 9-digit keypad. example: If type "J" ... it brings up all the "J","K", and "L"'s. If i wanted "K", I would have typed "K". Anyone know a fix ???

Windows Mobile tries to be smart by finding patterns and not just jumping to the first letter of a name typed. Yuo really need to type more of the name before it gets it right. It does work but it's not perfect. There are some 3rd party dialers you can install that might work better. Look around on Handango.com or Smartphone.net.

Not just that, but if the letter you type is also a number key (i.e. J/6), it will display contacts that have phone numbers that start with that number. I type 2 or 3 letters for the name that I am looking for and I've got the one I'm looking for. I don't find it to be that much of a hassle. It saves me from having to down arrow through a long list of people in my contacts whose name starts with a popular letter, like "B." My last name starts with "B", so I have about 30 relatives in my contacts list that also start with "B."
