Upgrade from a N75?

I'm a fairly big phone nut, and switch phones fairly frequently ... but I'm starting to get a little frustrated with not getting some of the key features I'm looking for ...

I currently have the N75 (since the day Cingular launched it), but have been fairly disappointed in the phone. I had the N80 previously, and was looking for two key features in the n75 ... improved browsing speed and a solid music player.

I have not been terribly impressed with Cingular's "3G" service ... so there isn't too much keeping me to that service. Does anyone have a sense for the difference between the EDGE and the WCDMA speeds? I know what the specs say, but it doesn't seem to manifest itself in a very fast service on the N75.

In addition, the N75 do...

I did this switch. I have 2 N75's. I was in no way happy with that phone.

The N95 does tend to put things like ring tones in the same dir., but given everything else it is for me I hardly thought about that issue, though I agree with you about how stupid that really is. It kind of shows you that the people who code for these phones never really use them. I believe you can move them out of that dir., but I am not sure.

You want N95. It is a much faster OS. It does not crash and lock up constantly like the N75. I blame ATT for the lock up issues, but I really do not know what caused it.

I use my N95 with the Pioneer DEH-P7900BT car radio and it works really good. Sirius claims that the FCC made them turn down their bandwidth and that ...

Dave - thanks for some great input man. Both thorough and insightful.

Seems like we have the same frustrations with Nokia ... but I guess I'm still the sucker, since I'm still buying their phones. I remember trying an Ericson about eight years ago, but I went screaming back to Nokia within two weeks. I've also used Blackberries for work, but never really as a phone.

I have a few ?'s about your post.

These software problems, are they with the N75, or N95? Also, you said that this only happened AFTER doing a firmware update, or flashing the phone? Correct? So if I am happy with the phones software the way it is the day I get it and so on, and do not do any updating, or flashing. I should be ok, right?

I just ordered the Nokia N95-3, I'm hoping to receive it this coming Friday. I got mine unlocked for $572, not bad, I've seen it elsewhere for upwards of $630 or more!!!!

By the way, do you know how the N95 does at taking night pix? I'd like to know.

I have seen significant speeds when at&t turned 3g on down by me in Ocean County, NJ. When using my 8525. I have noticed the difference on the N75 which I also own.

Ah, the N75 isn't even TRUE 3G, it's only stupid UMTS, HSDPA is much, much faster, anywhere from 2 to 3 times faster than the UMTS that the N75 is capable of. Both the 8525, and the newer 8925 are HSDPA capable.
