Call AT&T and ask them to send an update to your phone and go into store for a new battery...

I called at&t about my N75 dropping calls and they told me they would send an update to my phone. After turning the phone off and waiting a minute or two; whaa-la! The phone does not pop or make noises during calls. I used to get damn popping and hissing noises but now their gone.
Also I went into the store and told them about the battery and the manager gave me a new battery which is model BL-4B which is different than the one the phone came with. So I am hoping things get better. This is one heck of a phone. I will write a review soon, so be on the look out.
Peace.

What was wrong with the old battery, and does the new battery have more capacity?

I think the batteries that came with the phone are defective. You should check your battery and see if it is legit. Also remember that your battery is part of your warranty, so if it is not working; go back to the store and let them know. Hope this helps! Also ask at&t to send a update to your phone. It really works.
