Assigning ringtons to contacts - Verizon

I downloaded 2 ring tones from the Verizon network but I am having problems assigning specific ring tones to different people.

If I go to a contact, assign a different ring tone than the main one (Sounds -> ringtone), it doesn't work. It just plays the main one.

Anyone know why this is happening? I look at my contact information and it says a different ringtone but still plays the main one...

I'm so dissapointed. I returned the phone today at Verizon and they said it was a software issue but when I got home, still had the same issue. Can someone please help me??

Thanks

You have to turn off the vibrate feature and the different ringtones will work. I know it's really stupid and I'm hoping that Verizon comes up with a software update that will fix the problem.

Ditto! Thank you for this thread- I just got a krazr last saturday, and already have had it exchanged for a second phone, only to have it have the same problem.

There really don't seem to be many forums that talk about this issue- I'm so glad to see I'm not alone! I thought I was doing something wrong or something...

The annoying thing is, if this is a widespread problem, why the Verizon technician I spoke to didn't recognize it (I specifically asked if it was a fluke, or a wider-spread issue with this phone, and he thought it was a fluke).

I might just go back and have them exchange the phone until I find one that works, since that seems like the only fix right now 🤨

If anyone knows where to 1. find the firmware update wh...

Exchanging the phone for one that works won't fix it, I am pretty sure none of them work. I agree with you, I'm pretty upset that Verizon doesn't seem to be doing anything to help the issue. If you find out where to submit a complaint, let me know!

The other day I visited my local Verizon store and asked if a firmware update had been released for the KRZR. The techs stated that an update was due to be released shortly. This update was to address ringtones (they didn't explain what aspect of ringtones), and the latency of the menus. Hope this answers your question.

This just goes to show how bad some of the people that work for Verizon really are. I was talking to Verizon last night on the phone (*611) about something else, and asked about the update. The girl told me there was no update as they know of no problems with the phone. My biggest problem is the assignment of ring tones. They told me to take it to my local Verizon store. The tech guy told me he had never heard of a problem either. I was then told that it wasn't Verizon's problem, and that I should contact Motorola directly about getting an update. If the signal strength of Verizon wasn't so great, I'd leave in a second because their customer service is lacking tremendously. I hope this update really does come soon, or I am going to raise som...
