texting and the keypad

I now have the new samsung u740 with the query board and I love it for texting but the numbers are so so small that I fear I will not be able to make an average phone call when needed. I am also not totally sold on the query board since I have gotten so good at onehanded texting with t9word. I am considering the 8600 since it seems to be basically the same phone without the query board. I was originally talked out of the 8600 by a verizon sales man because of the flat keypad. I told him I text a lot and he said I'd never get use to not having keys you can feel. In all that I have read it seems that most people do get used to the 8600 keypad, any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated!

Service

So heres the deal, i had the lg vx7000 for the past year and it was a great phone just wish there was a speaker phone ... but anyways in january our contract ran out (im on a family plan) so we got new phones.. and we eneded up getting the lg vx8600.. and its a great phone i have few complaints about it... except the speakerphone sucking... but now that i have had it for awhile it seems like i dont have the service that i used to have on my 7000.. like im my school i get the ****tiest service ever and i used to have half way decent service... and other areas i dont get service where i used to.. wondering if this is common or something is wrong?

Ring tones and wallpaper

I was wondering if anyone knew how I could make my own wallpapers for the phone from pictures i got off of the internet? and does anyone know how to take a song from my computer and make it a ring tone? My old phone I know you had to just take a short clip and make it a small mp3 file, but I dont know if that works with this phone.

Thanks

License Acquisition Failure? Help!

Hello- I have an 8600 and bought the micro sd card, formated it, put some music on the card by dragging and dropping music from my computer into the My Music folder. I put the card back in and can see the music in the folder, but when I go to play it, the phone gives me the error message "license acquistiion failure" and refuses to play the music. Is there any way around this? I'm not sure what format the music is in- I took it off an old CD that was made long before MP3 players.
Any advice appreciated. TIA!

trouble with ringtones....

hello, i am new to this forum. last night i added my own ringtones to a micro-sd card using bitpim, and following the step-by-step instructions on bitpims website. last night, i listened to them on the phone, and was ablt to set them as ringtones. shut the phone off, went to bed.

today, i went to set a different tone i added last night, and it let me set it, but i could not sample listen to it. so i set it, and called my phone.......and no ring. then my phone shut off without me doing anything to it.

could someone please offer me some insight, i am completely frustrated. i have since erased everything from the phone, but left the memory card intact, with the subdirectory "ringers". and yes, i did format the card.
thanks,
jim

Questions about using bluetooth and the battery life

I just got this phone on Monday, didn't get too big of a chance to play with it plus I am a light user and really just need a phone to contact people.

Of course, as I knew would inevitably happen, I did drop the phone in the parking lot. No really bad scuffs or anything but what bugged me a bit is the the battery fell out. I know it was dropped but man is it that fragile?

Anywho, I have a bluetooth headset as well and tested it out. I've only really used the phone a bit with the bluetooth headset but how long does the phone last using a bluetooth headset? What are you supposed to do (or what is suggested) when you use a bluetooth headset, leave it on all the time as well as the bluetooth on the phone?? I can't imagine having to fum...

External Display Screen

Someone posted how to keep both the external & inside display backlight on and it does work. But like they said it does constantly stay on even when your not on the phone. So does anyone know how to let the backlight stay on & let it dim after after so many seconds? And also is there a way to adjust the contrast and brihtness of both display screens? Thanks for your help.

Keep missed call notification on?

Is there a way to set the 8600 to keep the missed call/voicemail notification on the front screen all the time? My old phone always showed me if there was a missed call/voicemail without hitting anything. I could just glance and see.

Can the 8600 to that?

Alert and ringtone...

Hi, just picked up an 8600 this week. I’m hoping to find assistance for a couple things. First, is it possible to disable the little “squawk” that occurs directly following a missed call without activating the vibrate mode? Second, I’m looking for a ringtone with two basic characteristics. A tone that rings just once and does not repeat. Something like a simple couple beeps or chime, that sounds just once. Does anyone know where I can find a tone like that?

Thanks for your time.

Any new interseting LG phones coming soon to Verizon?

Hello,

I'm coming up on my upgrade time, and I currently have an LG VX8300. I decided to pass on the 8600 b/c of the supposedly weak speaker phone. I was just wondering if there are any new cool LG phones coming out anytime soon. I saw one, I think it was the 9400, that is like a tv phone, but I'm just looking for a good flip phone.

micro sd cards

Hi all...just recently upgraded from a 8300 to a 8600 & while the 8300 was by far the greatest phone I owned im happy with my 8600 too.
My question is can I use my sd card from my 8300 for my 8600? I tried putting the card in & it was given a little trouble(dont want to force it in). Just want to make sure they're compatable.
Thanks for any input.
