Text entry -- word mode

Need a good explanation or online tutorial of how to use Word mode when entering text in a text message.

I have an LG VX8600, which I love.

But can't figure out how to use the Word mode properly -- don't understand the logic of how/why the different letters come up based on what I've entered.

Anyone know of more detailed instructions than what comes with the phone? Or a link to an online demo?

Thanks much

Orriginal Battery NO GOOD?

Ho! Am I reading this correctly that my phone activated by Verizon when I purchased it has a battery that is at and will not be fully charged from now on? Is it safe to assume from the comments by some of you that in order to get the full capacity and usage from the battery I would have to purchase a new one, put it into my phone with the power off and recharge it from there?

Right now with the battery that the phone came with I have at least 3 days on standby before it goes to two bars then two more days then it's yellow with one bar. Is this the norm? Sorry so much questions but I just picked this phone up and while I just started to play with it, it's way better then my Razor.
In fact I feel kinda guilty giving my Razor to one of m...

Missed call alert...

Hi, Anyone know if its possible to disable the alert that sounds like a “squawk” that occurs directly following a missed call without having the phone set in the silent or vibrate mode?

Thanks for your time.

New 8600 , Battery Concerns - Shuts down too fast ??

So our new 8600's went to low battery tonight. Within 30 seconds the phone powered off and could not be powered back up without plugging in..

Has any experienced this ?

Our LG8300 would go to low battery and give you 10-15 mins before dumping you..

Can you guys test this ??

Thanks

Service just stopped...

I am wondering if it is just the phone or a common problem with this model, although I have never seen this issue before...I have had my 8600 for about a month now, and today I had NO service at all no matter where I was, I thought perhaps it was a Verizon issue, but it wasn't, so I turned the phone off and then on again, and it seemed to be working ok again...although for the past week or so, I have been having service issues in places that I never had problems with my previous LG 5200 before...

Has anyone else had this same problem of the service not working, or is it my phone, and I should just exchange it?

Thanks... 😕

Bluetooth auto answer

I need to get a BT for my 8600. Nothing fancy, just something that allows me to answer when I'm out cycling.
Do most of the more recent vintages allow auto answer rather then press button answer coupled with a VX8600?

8600 or New razr MAXX?

I am trying to decide whether or not to buy the LG 8600 or the MAXX razr. I like the both phones but still wonder if the lg8600 is a bit nicer. The MAXX is nice until you open it and those hideous red bars are there. I suppose I'd get used to it. The 8600 has a much nicer appearance and even has nicer wallpapers and such. Just heard such horrible things about the speakerphone.

Anyone have any opinions on which would be a better choice? I realize that it's hard with the MAXX just coming out today.

systems for AX8600

Okay, here is the situation. I am a new Alltel customer (we are moving within the next year and they have outstanding coverage where we are moving to and decent coverage where we are now). The next major city to me is Albuquerque, NM. I live just east of Albuquerque. At my house, my phone blinks "r" unless I have it on the "home" system... After checking around, I was advised to check the SID in the phone (the home network is set to Albuquerque - 79). When I was at my home, I was picking up the Alltel tower from Santa Fe (1499 SID) instead of the Alb one... which is why I am getting the "r" flashing... I have the SID number for the Santa Fe area, as well as the area I will be moving to (in the same state). I was told I could add them to the ...

Delete all TXT messages without having to read them first

Is there a way to delete all the inbox TXT messages without having to read them? We get TXT alerts for over 1000 servers... kinda gets to be a pain when you have to read 80+ emails just to delete them... Any help would be appreciated.

Text Ringtones

Anyone know how or where I can find different ringtones for incoming text messages? The standard ones suck, and Get It Now is just crappy.

Thanks!

LG VX 8600 and Bluetooth problem...HELP!

I have no luck when it comes to bluetooth. If it's not one thing, it's another w/every BT I've had. This time around, I have the LG HBT-730 for my 8600 and everytime I am on the bluetooth w/a call, and there is a call waiting beeping in, the phone shuts off and the bluetooth disconnects!!!!!

This doesn't appear to be a phone malfunction because I've had calls waiting while not using the BT and the phone stays on. I've also tried updating the programming though VZW, no luck.

Has anyone had the same problem, and if so, what's the fix?????

Font Size-External Screen

I would like to know if the font on the exterior screen of the LG AX8600 can be enlarged. I looked at this phone at the Alltel store last week and the date and time on the external screen is microscopic. The Alltel rep (young girl) helping me said it was even too small for her. She put the battery in the phone but it had to be programmed and her boss, who is using this phone, was out of the office at the time. So I didn't find out about the font.

I was going to get this phone in the gold, but if the font cannot be enlarged, I'll have to pass.

Anyone know? Thanks.

poor reception ... hello krzr

Customer service swapped my 8600 out for a krzr after I called to complain. I liked a lot of things about this phone but the reception was just unacceptable. I'm having a lot fewer dropped calls on my krzr, although I miss a few features on the 8600. I wonder if my unit was just defective or if others are experiencing poor reception / erratic signal / dropped calls?

Want ooohs and ahhs about your phone? Try this-

while the vx 8600 looks great, it will look like no other if you put your own personal taste and touch to it by putting on a second "skin" at:

http://www.vskins.com/skins/ »

many choices, and your phone will look great...

and NO, I don't work for Verizon, but I get so many comments on my phone that I wanted to pass along this information...

recharging

my old phones weren't suppose to be charged more than 3 hours. Now I understand the batts or phones or chargers have a memory chip to prevent overcharge and killing the batts faster then their natural life.

T or F?

Question about pictures

I have some pictures on my phone which i would rather people not see. Is there anyway to hide pictures so they do not appear in the "my pictures" list? (i have a sd card if that helps any.)
