Verizon Phones

Verizon doesn't carry the best phones around but this phone, combined with the lack of Verizon UI is actually pretty solid. Everything is relative and relative to other Verizon phones this is one of the best.

Really no missed call alerts?

I just bought this phone a few hours ago when I returned a motorola 325 that I bought in an emergency when my old phone broke while on vacation. It was the white on black outside display of the 325 that attracted me to it. It is important to me, since I leave my phone at my desk all day while at work, that I be able to glance at the phone and know I missed a call without having to pick up the phone. Unfortunately, the tiny font on that display sent me back to the store for the LG8600. Grrrr......color outside display that stays lit for 3 seconds, then totally black. Will I really have to pick up this phone and press the tiny button (almost impossible while in the case that is necessary because of the shiny smudge-magnet exterior) every time ...

phone build

just to start off, i've always loved my LG phones, but form factor was beginning to bother me. (i like a small phone i can slide in my pocket) Wondering if anyone could comment on the build quality of this phone for being the first truely small form factored phone i've seen from LG. Does it compare with the durability of the razr? Is the keypad comfortable? (i like to play tetris on my train ride to work). and does it truely outperform the razr? I had a razr and got the lg 8300 but comparing back now the razr was much better for me, except that their were lots of little things that bothered me about it. Does the LG feel better in the palm of you hand than the razr?

THanks!
appreciate any feedback!

Pre-Review LG 8600

I did some serious research for this phone and tonight the only thing I had left to do was see the phone in my hand and see how it felt. The Verizon rep wasn't thrilled to help me but I am thrilled to say that this thing is spectacular to look at and so far everything is so money. My goodness. I will write a real review later, but Daddy likey.

wma files

I cannot get my wma files to play. They are not copy protected. Any suggestions?

They are on the card, they just keep giving me an error message "unable to play" and the file name.

8600 signal and battery life vs KRZR

how many days stand by do you get from this phone? where i live, signal is not very strong. A while back I tried the LG VX6100 and had to exchange it for a motov265 phone because of signal strength. LGs just dropped calls like crazy for me. anyone has same experience? how does the 8600 fare?

Reviews

In the most recent review for this phone the user "cheech" describes the phone as 'perfect' but gives it a 4.5 out of 5. That is 90% which is an A- and not perfect. I wish I could get the info and advice from other real cell phone knowledgable people.

I personally have worked for Sprint in two different respects and I have owned about 12-15 phones over the last 3 years. Overboard I guess.

Dream cell scenario: Sprint phone on the Verizon network with a Cingular plan and T-mobile internet.

Speakerphone fix?

Seems like the one gripe most people have is the low speakerphone. Anyone know if this could eventually be fixed by a software upgrade or something else? It seems like this is the one thing keeping this from being anawesome phone.

Like vs. Dislike

How can there be so many extreme differences of opinion? The reviews are all really good for this phone but then some of the posts on the forum completely trash it. What is the reason behind this? Is it because some people are so used to bad phones that an average phone seems great? or the other way is that people(like me) are used to well made quality phones that an average phone seems terrible? I really want to know.

Word

Hey guys,

I just got my 8600. I started to text and the default setting is "Abc". I know you can change it to "Word", but after every text you send it reverts back to Abc. How do I select the Word program and keep it selected, im tired of having to do Options...Word...every time!

Thanks!

So far the phone is a lot better than my Razr.

Now i realise the touch sensitive keypad is the outside buttons... but is it also the inside keys or do you still have to press the buttons? eg: dialing a number

Transfering Music From Computer to SD

I have a question...I have read some place on this website that it is possible to transfer music to your SD while hooked into your computer, but when I tried this it did not work. How do I go about doing this? Has Verizon blocked it in some way? I dont really want to buy the whole Music Essentials Kit.

Thanks.

for ppl who have used 8300 and 8600 - help me choose

hi ppl,

I m confused between 8300 and 8600.. so those who have used both the phones cav give me their advice....

features i am interested in ...

1. loud speaker - imp
2. games (inclusding 3D) - imp
3. ability to play MP3 -
4. customizable menu (seems both have this capability) -
5. ability to set mp3 ring tones
6. accpetable camera quality
7. good reception (feel like won't be a matter with any of the sets)
8. battery life (my utilization is max 2 hrs a day)

bluetooth is not an issue for me coz i hv used it may be 5 times in the last year to transfer pictures and songs which i can do with usb as well. (which seems to be the major difference btn 2)

thanks...

This phone make me want to vomit

I went to check it out today at CC and couldn't believe how cheap looking this thing is, not to mention built poorly and light as a feather...and why the heck did they put that ugly silver strip on there? ewwwwwww

Just another knock off razr but worse

Just my .02 cents

Upgrades vs. Full retail

Just out of curiousity, when you guys talk about getting new phones all the time are you generally buying them full price or upgrading?
