Disable the Cingular logo key?

Is there any way to disable the #%*$#*@ Cingular logo key? If my finger slips on the left-arrow button, I wind up getting charged for Internet access.

There's no intermediate screen for confirmation, and it happens too quickly to abort.

Does NOT have Voice Memo

The V365 does NOT have a voice memo feature as such, contrary to the features listing at phonescoop and cingular.com. Motorola support has confirmed that to me.

Local store manager suggests setting up a shortcut to record a video. Haven't actually done it all yet and don't know how much memory it wastes, but I guess it will get the job done.

Except, there are other feature discrepancies. See my other post(s).

Headset Jack yes, generic phone headsets no?

Do I have a defective phone, or does the 2.5 jack require a proprietary headset?

I've plugged two otherwise satisfactory wired headsets into the headset jack, and they both buzz, a LOT. They work fine with my landline keypads.

Although always buzzing unacceptably (any tone would be unacceptable, but this cannot be ignored), the buzz volume varies as my the phone in my hand moves, as if passing through nodes.

The fidelity, affordability and privacy of wired headsets is Reason One why I chose this model, so I need to resolve this quick.

Camera Question

Is there a way to disable the camera. Maybe using htese for work and cameras could be an issue.

Quick camera

😁

On a positive note, my first impression of the camera is great. Just VGA, but unlike the SE 810 I turned in, it takes what you see when you push the button. The 810 took a couple seconds to focus. Selecting a zoom zone and exposure compensation is quick, too. Don't really need more than that for a good grab shot.

Anybody else have these problems?

I have had my phone for three weeks. I have it set on ring and vibrate. It seems that sometimes it reverts back to the original audio style of "loud" by itself. I have missed calls when the phone is in my pocket because it didn't vibrate.

Also sometimes the on / off tone and the "biker" ring tone crackle. I called Motorola and they told me to reset the phone, which I just did, but don't know if that will fix the problem.

Anybody else have these same experiences?

broken and cracked screen display

I have had the V365 for 2 months. The first one needed replaced after only 3 days, it wouldn't charge. Tried new chargers and new batteries to no avail, got it replaced fairly quickly. Now the 30 day replacement policy has expired and the phone is broken again. The display screen is cracked this time, aparently internally but visable thru the external pannel. I have not dropped or damaged the phone in any way. It worked last night. I made a call, closed the phone placed it in the console of my car. It stayed there all night (parked in heated garage, didnt freeze). This morning, it was cracked. Cingular says it's not a defect so it's not covered under warranty. They referred me to Motorola, still waiting on their reply. I am wondering if any ...

Keypad Lock and Keypad Tone Mute

Is there a way to lock the keypad on this phone (other than locking the entire phone)? Also, is there a way to mute the keys when you are in a call? In vibrate or silent mode they are muted when you are making a call, but they emit tones after you are in a call if you press the keys (ie, checking voicemail, etc.).

Battery meter?

My battery meter goes from 6 to 4 to 2 to 0. It skips over 5,3 and 1. Is that the way it is suppose to be or do I have a defective phone/battery?

Can it make/receive calls while charging?

I had a Motorola V557 for about 8 months that I had a love/hate relationship with. I loved the look and feel of the phone, and voice quality, and I never had trouble with dropped calls. Since I don't keep phones in pocket, the thickness never bothered me. What did bother me was the the fact that I could not make or receive calls while charging the phone. I need the phone in the car, so I was either not getting calls because I was charging the phone, not getting calls because the battery was low, or not getting calls because I took the phone in the house to charge and forgot it. Can the V365 make and receive calls while charging, does anyone know? I bought the Samsung 707 and like it so far, but I can't figure out how to work the camera...

Just Got One!!

I just got my first shipment of these and it's looks to be pretty cool. It's the first Cingy PTT phone with expandable memory (micro SD/Transflash). Initial use shows promise.
The phone is not meant to be a "rugged" device, however the thickness and rubberized feel makes me think otherwise. There is alot of space between the backdoor and the battery.
The Speaker is Nextel Loud, but Sony Ericsson Crisp. The PTT sounds good comming out of it, but the ringer will knock your socks off!
The phone has expandable memory, but not for Cingular Music. From what I can tell, it is meant to be used for pictures, videos & ringtones (you can use an entire song as a ringtone).
Other bonus features include Mobile Email, IM & of course BT.

Cingular PTT

Does Cingular PTT make that same annoying "bladeep-bladeep" sound taht Nextel makes when you alert someone? Just curious, not Nextel hating. 🙂
