Pantech PN-850 vs. Motorola Q

The PN-820 does look intriguing. I currently have the silver Q, which is awesome when it works, but a pain when it doesn't (as i've had more than one since i got it). In comparison to the Q, is it better, worse, or the same thing in a different shell?

"RINREN" REVIEW-is a UTSTAR/Pantech tech posting!!

Hello all...

windsorhollow here... after I submitted my review on the pn-820, I sent copies of the review to utstar, pantech, and Verizon wireless informing them of a bad review and requested that they fix the issues... well, the tech from UTSTAR below, sent me the unsatisfactory response which I made comments in brackets on each of his points between... Now look at the "remarkable similarity of the points that the UTSTAR tech made, and the touching points that "RINREN" made in his Review of the pn-820...

HMMM... SEEMS LIKE THE SAME GUY TO ME, HUH?

This phone has issues, and now UTSTAR/PANTECH has resorted to having a tech guy post positive reviews for their phones!!

PLEASE HELP GET ALL THESE ISSUES AND YOUR OWN ADDRESSED BY CA...

Anyone know how to keep the keypad lit?

Tried everything, every forum, manual, website etc. Keypad goes dark nearly immediately after opening, and I'd like to keep it on.

Data Entry

I'm a Treo user, but I'd love to have something smaller, thinner, lighter. I've been thinking about getting a Q, but the Pantech 820 looks like a great possibility. I'm not a power user, but I am used to having a keyboard. How easy (or hard) is data entry with the PN 820?

Great Phone...but tiny font and quickly lit

I've been using my PN-820 for several weeks now. I love it. However, my poor eyesight finds it quite difficult to read such small font on the home screen. Any way of enlarging this? Also, any way to change the order of items listed on that home screen?

Lastly, I like the external LCD screen but it turns off MUCH TOO QUICKLY when lit up....is there a way to prolong it so I can view it more and longer?

Thanks

Picture caller ID

Does this work on the external screen? How hard is it to add new ringtones? Thanks for any help. Looking at this phone as a possible upgrade.

Anyone know if the PN-820 can sync with my PC Outlook over the bluetooth link?

just got one, ok but some issues

had it a week so far. pretty cool altough i am not a computer guy so i don't know how to use half of it's capabilites so far. few observations and questions:
1. when in a call, and i press buttons for passwords and such, it clicks and pauses, very annoying, thinking it might be a bad phone?
2. can't turn on the speaker phone for the life of me. found the menu and select it and it never stays selected. also when i select other menu options like 'outdoor' sometimes it takes and sometimes it doesn't and reverts back to 'normal'.
3. ringer is way to quiet, but others have said it's too loud? std ringtones suck. added others myself through the browser, but when i select them, again, it doesn't take and picks one on it's own.
4. tried t...

pn 820 flip email

does anyone know if this phone syncs the same way that a q does with an exchange server thru active sync? I much prefer a flip to the q style. I also dont care that much about style. If this is a flip smartphone that works I will be extremely happy--Cant wait to get rid of my ridiculously unpredictable q. I dont do that much responding to emails or texting so the T9 text system works very well for me. Also improves my spelling---

Pantech 820 and Macs

Will the Pantech 820 interface well with Macs? (e.g., Address book and e-mail coordination)? Also (apologies, I have not yet used MP3 downloads); will it require multiple steps to move music from the Mac to the memory card of the Pantech?

Need some help on using the voice commands w/ Bluetooth

I just got this phone and like it a lot, except I can't figure out how to use voice commands with the Bluetooth. Because it's so new, Verizon tech support doesn't know.

not bad at all

Ordered one Monday on our business contract and it arrived 2 days later Wednesday, 2/7.

Must admit, I'm impressed.

VZW hasn't had a clamshell smartphone for too long now. I use a treo 700w myself but think the other offerings are too bulky.

The rest of the administration at my place need something small and the PN820 fits the bill.

PROS
It is much thinner than I expected with the standard battery.
It does use win mob smartphone 5, so everything you're used to on the q, it can do too.
Keys are good size and printed with a large clear text. In my opinion, that's rare lately.
Mini SD and evdo. Nice.
Screen bezel is shiney, actually has a very nice look and not the cheapness as discussed in other posts.

CONS
Charger is...

Voice Command

My mistake. In previous thread I stated 'no voice command'. Was wrong. I bought phone but can't figure out how to use it. Manual says 'press start-go to voice command and set a button'. Where is start and if you set a button does it disable the original feature? As usual, VZW tech was no help and either was the user guide. Any help appreciated. Thanx.
