HELP - 8525 Dead After 1 Week

๐Ÿ˜ก I've had the 8525 for exactly 1 week and all was going well, really well. Then out of nowhere, the touch screen stopped responding to tapping. Sometimes no response, then sometimes my tap would open a window or change screens but it wouldn't stay there, it would immediately return to the Today screen. I did a few soft reboots and it might start being responsive for 30 minutes or so, but then would revert back to the problem. I finally did a hard reboot. Again no fix. This machine is shot after 1 week.

What do I do?

Please help.

Anyone else having these problems?

From day one, my 8525 has had issues. I am going to exchange it at Cingular, however I wanted to know if others are having the same issues. If so, I may just get my money back on it and wait for the bugs to get worked out.

SYNC ISSUES:
Right away I had trouble with getting the 8525 to sync with my PC. I am running the latest build of Activesync and have to troubles at all syncing my 8125, 2125 and MpX220, so I know it definitely is the 8525. Also, I keep my units password protected so when it syncs the first time I must enter the password and check the remember box so I don't see the dialog box again. The 8525 seems to forget and asks me for the password almost every time. I often have to reboot the 8525 or restart Activesync on my PC to...

Help - 8525 or Blackjack ?

๐Ÿ˜• ๐Ÿ˜•
I've spent the last few days researching the Cingular 8525 and had finally decided to get it, despite the painful price tag. Then I log on today and see the Blackjack and I'm back to mass indecisiveness again.
The major differences (besides $200) that I see are:
8525 has Wi-Fi
Blackjack is thinner and lighter
8525 has bigger screen
8525 has better camera

Unfortunately the local Cingular stores do not have the 8525 in yet so I can't go in and look in person and handle them. Does anyone have any experience with comparing them.
I know, I'm obsessing, and it's killing my work productivity today.

8525 Backup

Since ActiveSync 4.2 doesn't backup a device so you can restore the 8525 to a previous state-total backup i.e. programs, settings, etc. like previous versions of ActiveSync, I'm looking for something to do this. 'Sprite' looks good. Anybody have thoughts on this program or any others/other solutions?

Backing up like this came in handy with my old HP Hw 6525, I want something in case I have issues with the 8525 & to avoid the pain of having to re-install all programs/setting, etc.

Changing Message/email alerts.

Has anyone found the subfolder that contains all the default alert tones, (not ringtones) i.e. - notifications, SMS alerts, Email alerts etc. I'd like to be able to change those alerts to user defined files, but I can't find the folder they're in. Usually, you can Copy/Paste any file to the folder, but I've explored all Windows folders, and can't find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dead Batter or System Crash

I bought the cingular 8525 about 10 days ago. The first 10 days were great. I was able to install and use a lot of programs successfully. I was truly amazed. I dont consider myself very technical. I install Agile Messenger and this morning I left it open while I tested it out (so I left it open all day with a few other programs).

Anyways, something happen between 3PM and 6pm. The phone refuses to power on. When I got back from my meeting the phone was off. I initially thougt that perhaps the battery was sucked dry due to running too many apps. But after 1 hour of charging the device. It refuses to power up at all.

Do I need the battery to charge for more than 1 hour to get it to power on? Or Has this device crashed? I am...

Bluetooth "glitch:?

I have had the phone for over 2 weeks, it's wonderful. 2 little things, though. The first is VERY minor. My old Nokia 6820 had a feature called "profiles", and you could set a timer to have the ringer go from vibrate/silent to ringing again. Can the 8525 do that, somehow? The other thing: at random times (usually when futzing with the internet), if I have the Bluetooth on and the phone rings, and I push the talk button, it often answers on the regular phone speaker, not the Bluetooth. Does anyone know what the story is with that? Thanks...
