Quick 2 Net Using 8300?

Has anyone succeeded in using Quick 2 Net (the free but slow Verizon internet access) with the 8300 and Mobile Office Kit. This worked fine with my older VX4400, but doesn't show as an option with the latest software and this phone.

Vibrate then Ring feature on 8300?

My husband & I are trying to choose between the 8600 and the 8300 phones for Verizon. One of the features he needs is the vibrate then ring. He works outside & has "lost" his phone more than once when set to vibrate. This feature allows the phone to switch to ring if not answered on vibrate. Has been crucial to finding phones.

Does either of these phones have this feature? All that shows on search is vibrate.

Everything else on these phones seems comparable. Either would apparently be an excellent phone.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Turn on Speakerphone before call?

Other forums are discussing how withthe 8600 and 8700 you can't turn on the speakerphone until after you've placed a call. Please, someone tell me that this isn't the case with the 8300! I have the 8100 and about to upgrade to the 8300 (cause I love my 8100's functionality). But it will be a real 'bummer' if I have to wait until a place a call to turn on the speaker!!

WAY easier way to create ringtones!!

I use a program called WavePad to create my ringtones. Very simple free program.

http://www.nch.com.au/wavepad »

Easy steps below:

Open WavePad
Choose file
Open file (pick song you would like to make into a ringtone)

You can than start and stop anywhere you would like. I choose files that are approximately 30-35 seconds in length. Using the menus to the left you can cut the portion out you have selected. You will have selected it by holding the left mouse button down and dragging it over the part you are wanting.

The menu at the left also has options for amplifying to make louder, and fade in and fade out. Makes it so much better!!!

After you choose the portion you want. Bottom right of screen will tell you how long t...

Will there be an update to the 8300?

Does anyone know if there will be an update to the VX-8300? I know about the 8700, which I own and honestly it's just ok. I am talking about a featured packed phone with the same form factor as the 8300. Any news would be welcome.

Calendar/scheduler -- how to transfer to new phone?

I'm not getting a new phone anytime soon (until this one dies), but I've been making the habit of scheduling everyone's birthday in it and setting an annual reminder.

I use the free backup assistant for numbers, but is there any way to back up the calendar?

Have the USB cable, how do I send pix to computer?

I thought I was fairly literate, no problems with music. However, the computer can't seem to find the pix. Any suggestions?

Front MP3 buttons broken????

I just got my SECOND warranty replacement for my 8300 cuz my first 2 were both defective. I know the replacements are refurbished, but the one I just got...the 3 buttons on the front are totally non functional. They dont even work when I push them to check the time. And they dont light up, obviously. Is this enough reason to bring it back? Cuz I know they promise a new model on your 3rd replacement.

New to the MP3 Game

I have a ton of music on my computer and i recently tried to put some on my 8300, but it seems like the only mp3's that will play are the ones i uploaded to my computer via the cd i had. Any of the songs i have that i purchased from napster say the song is copyright protected. Am i not allowed to play music on my phone that i purchased on line?

Texting Preference

Is there a way to set the 8300 to "word" or t9 all the time when texting? It always seems to revert back to abc. Thanks.

making ringtones with recorded sounds

How do you make ringtones out of the voice notes? I used to be able to record music on my vx7000 and it would go into my ringtones menu. Then I could select it and it would be my ringtone. I thought I read that you could do that on this phone but I can't find how you do it. If someone knows how to it works, please tell me. Thanks. 😁

Bad microphone

Just wanted to report that m VX8300, which I purchased in September of 2006, developed a bad microphone. People could not hear me at all. I verified that the problem was on my end by using the voice recorder. Thinking that it might somehow be a software problem I dialed *228 and then 1 to reprogram the phone and that fixed the problem - for awhile. All my personal recording tests worked great. But the next day in the middle of an actual voice conversation the microphone went out again. This time the *228 trick did not work. Verizon replaced the phone for free and the tech said he wasn't aware of this being a class problem. Anyone else having microphone problems with their VX8300s?

2G microSD card

Here are some things of interest regarding the use of 2G microSD cards in the VX8300.

1. The new V3 firmware forthe VX8300 will allow you to format a 2G card just like a 1G card with the phone itself. It sees all the capacity and won't display weird, negative numbers as has been reported elsewhere with older firmware versions. When you let the phone format the card it will create the standard folders such as "my_music" on it.

2. I have a Belkin F5U248 8-in-1 card reader. I can't make it handle my 2G card at all even though it handles my older 1G card with no problems. I don't know if the reader is defective, needs a firmware update, or has a design limitation. Fortunately I was able to borrow a no-name SD card reader that worked or I w...
