Alternate headphone adapter and charger

I just picked this up from wireless_experts a couple weeks ago and it's awesome. I had a couple questions if anyone can answer them:

1) are there places to buy the headphone adapter? and, if so, can a shorter one be bought? I'd really like to use my existing headphones, but coiling the adapter is not fun bulk. Also, I broke the mic clip so the weight of the microphone pulls on the earphones; also not fun. Finally, should I ever lose this adapter (unfortunately likely), I'll definitely need a new one then.

2) the charger I received is a Euro with an adapter, are there places to buy a US adapter or a spare?

Thanks in advance.

Cannot Connect to internet pleae help

Aloha, I have the w810i, and am on Cingular on Kauai. I am unable to connect to the internet at all, I can send text messages, but cannot recieve email messgaes, or Picture messages When I try to connect I get "Conn. Failure. Check Settings. If problem persists, contact operator for support." The thing is I did all the setup from the Sony Ericcson site, and it still doesn't work. Please help, I am not all that tech savvy, so as much detail as possible is much appreciated. Mahalo,

W810i or K790i/K800i?

I was absolutely certain that I was going to get the W810i and switch to Cingular, but yesterday I held it, side-by-side, with a K800i. The K800i, how can I say it, just felt higher-quality in my hand. The screen is much sharper, the buttons seemed smoother and more ergonomic. And, well, the camera, the xenon flash, no comparison.
So, I'm wondering, is the W810i still better? The K800i still has a media player, no? But, it the Walkman player that much better?
Should I look for a K790a and switch to Cingular? Or, renew with T-Mobile and get a K800i or a K790i?

Will work in Florida for Cingular?

Ok, so I didn't see this phone on Cingular's web site. If I purchased this phone online would I be able to hook it up when I move to florida in a few weeks? Is there anything I should look for when getting this phone if it works for Cingular in Florida? thanks

Email Gateway??

So I've had my w810i for about a week and I absolutely LOVE it. Its the first SE phone I've since the days of Omnipoint. lol. Anyway, I'm on Cingular these days and I've got all the settings working perfectly. However I can't seem to send a text message to someones email. I can send MMS but not SMS. It keeps asking me for a Email Gateway. What is that and where can I find one? Thanks!

Scratched Lens??

One of the few complaints about this phone is the lack of lens protection. Now I've had camera phones since the dawn of time and never had one with a lens protector. In that time I don't recall ever scratching the lens. So I guess my question is has anyone scratched the w810i lens? If so, did it effect the quality of the images?

I've heard about the mod with the K750 but I was just wondering if thats more paranoia than anything else?

Thanks~ 🙂

maximum of 20 emails in inbox?

so i was able to do the email setup, can send and receive (cingular service, mac.com account) but i can only view a max of 20 emails in the inbox list at any one time. the
heading of the inbox will read:
inbox (1😎 38
so in a way it's telling me 18 can't be viewed?

i have over 20mb of free space in the phones memory (not the cards memory). there are 2 funny options, view older, view newer, but i still only get 20...a spoke with a sony rep, who spoke with another rep who has the phone, and they feel it is a max that has nothing to do with memory.

any ideas, or what are your experiences?

thanks.

Does this phone work w/ music subscription services?

Does anyone know if Rhapsody, URGE, Yahoo, or Napster's music subscription services can be used on this phone, or if any (or all) of them will be useable in the future?

Call Quality

I recently purchased an unlocked w810 directly from the Sony Store and I'm using it with Cingular. I have noticed one issue. The phone works fine with almost no dropped calls. However, whenever I am making or receiving calls in a crowded room, airport, etc., the microphone seems to pick up these other voices and temporarily mutes the caller on the other end, making the call very choppy and staticky. When I move to a quiet environment, the call comes through crystal clear. Has anyone else had this issue? Keep in mind that this is in regular phone mode and not using the speakerphone.

One way to test your phone is to call your voicemail and check one of your saved messages. As the message is playing, just talk into the phone (or bluetooth h...

The SIM card

How you put the SIM card in this phone? Do you slide it in (as in the w600i?) This might sound silly, but I don't like sliding the SIM card in cuz it gets scratched...

White W810

Looks like the W810 will be available very soon in white. A few sites are listing it but don't have any in stock yet. I wish they would come out with it in red like the K610.

Dropped Calls

I dont know how many people have experienced problems with dropped calls, but I have had a lot of problems with this on my w810i. I absolutley love this phone but the number of dropped calls got really anoying. I read up on this in some other forums and it seems to be a common event and it is due to a software defect in handing off the call from one tower to another. You can be sitting still and still be passed from tower to tower and this drops calls. I swithced my settings from Automatic Network Selection to Manual and that seemed to make the dropped calls go away. There is also mention of flashing the phone but that comes with risks. Here is a link that discusses this issue. http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topi c=121147 hop...
