Samsung SCH-A930

I'm trying to decide which phone to get between the A930 and the Lg the V if anyone has owned both or know how both work which one would you recommend?

I got the a930 last night and the bluetooth is awful. it is very staticy. it is a plantronics 320. Is this because of the phone or the headset?

I am borrowing a Motorola HS810 and am wondering if anyone has used this device with the a930 yet. I have not had a chance to set it up and was looking for insight.

i just got a USB hook up and was wondering how i can pull pictures and my contacts list off my phone onto my computer to back them up can anyone help??

I have a VCast Music Essentials Kit and a Sandisk 1 GB Micro SD memory card for the A930. Up for sale. $70. It's on Ebay if anyone is interested.

Is there a way to get rid of those annoying red bars on the top and bottom of the inside screen? i dont kno, but they are really annoying to me 😁

The Samsung a990 is in the info center for those of you who work for verizon and use the info center program, the phone is going to be awesome, good looking, thinner than the lg vx8300, 3.2 megapixel camera/ camcorder, pictbridge printing so you can print your pictures with any bluetooth printer or use a usb cable, and has tv-out, so you can connect the phone to your tv and watch all your videos and pictures, even go through vcast and watch music videos. And it looks like a real digital camera. Vcast music and video, micro sd card slot, maybe the video resolution has been upgraded also from 177x144 but that is still unknown. Since the phone is in info center already that means it should be coming out in the next month.

Anyone know how much more talk and standby time you can get with the 1500 mah extended battery?

Where in the crap do I find the USB data cable drivers for this phone!? Please... someone anyone.... I bought a samsung cable for the a950 but it didnt come with the drivers...

Whenever I go to the "MY Sounds" folder, both in the phone and on the memory card, the phone keeps freezing, and I'd have to take the battery out. Any suggestions as to why?

How does everyone like this phone?
Pros and cons?
How is call quality, speaker phone, battery life?
Any experience in comparing it to the LG 8300?
Any compatibility issues with downloading songs from a Mac vs. a PC?

I'm in L.A. so rural is not a big concern.

Honestly I have never used bitpim before.
I set the manual setting to A950 and COM4 (which is where my bluetooth USB adapter is).
They are currently "talking" my computer and phone recognize each others existance. But when i try to import data from the phone it says "Phone not responding while manipulating file system"

I just want to be able to get full mp3 music files on here cuz Vcast is crap and i can email pics and tones to myself. And I have a 512MB SD in it right now if that makes a difference.

Here's the scoop... I have had my a670 as a dial up modem 14.4 when I goto camp- for I can get a signal there- , uses only airtime (free nights/weekends) Apparently the DUN is disabled in the a930. You cannoth use this phone as a dial up modem if you are not registered/paying for National Access/Broadband. I found out that if you do unlock the setting (yet to try), and they happen to see it on their network using data minutes, you will be charged and its by the kb! I think I am going for it though because you have to have balls to charge someone for a 14.4 connection and theres a good chance to play stupid and beat the charge "oh im sorry I did it with my old phone and didnt have to pay etc" Will let you all know.

Started a yahoo group but lets keep the talking here and use the group for files and the technical end... while simple discussion can be done at phonescoop for the fact that keeping up w/ a yahoo group and keeping spam out is a pain. I have put some files there, enjoy, I Will warn you all, I do not know it all and advise to use caution when modifying your phone..... My main interests to get rolling on are the DUN capabilities and a WAP...so let's enjoy this phone that does not suck for once. I love the look of this phone. I have an 8100 right now. Should I make the change?

I got this phone about 2 weeks ago and I'm really happy with it. And I really have gotten a lot out of reading the tips on this forum. I was fooling around with the SD card last night, and I eventually had to give up trying to get MP3s to play as ringtones. I wanted to put some videos on the phone as well, and apparently the phone recognizes WMA format, but is having trouble reading it. Any thoughts or tips?

I got a microSD card for it and changed my mp3 to wma and then transfered the song with a card reader from my computer. Then I put the card in the phone and try to play a song and I get a "PLAYER ERROR music is not available" I see the song in my music folder but I can't play it. Can someone please help me? Thanks

I HAVE DONE IT. By scowering enough message boards and compiling enough different methods I've done it!!!

Here's what you do

(Only works for Windows users, and I used a MicroSD card as well)

- In Explorer.exe (or just open up my documents) go the TOOLS tab and choose FOLDER OPTIONS
- Then choose the VIEW TAB, and scroll down to where it says "Hide Extensions for known File Types", and make sure that this option is unchecked
- Now on your MicroSD card, (which should be formatted for this phone already) go to the MY_SOUNDS folder and place your select ring tone in this folder.
(the ringtone can be .mp3 or .wma from what I've seen; make sure it is nomore than 300kb in size, anything higher will crash your phone)
- NOW, RENAM...

Apparently Google Maps will not work on our phones because it does not have java technology built into it. Does anyone know how to upload Java into the phone or know of a suitable replacement so I can view city maps on the SCH-A930?
