Allow sim card to send message?

I just received my unlocked N80 and inserted my Cingular SIM card. I keep receiving a message "Allow SIM card to send message". I have allowed it to send a message twice and it is asking me again. Will this stop? Should I continue to allow the message to be sent. I know I am paranoid but this is my first unlocked phone and I am afraid they are gathering info on the phone and will disable it.

Any info will be appreciated. Look forward to giving my opion on the phone once I get to play with it more.

One word AWSOME

I got the nokia 6270 and if you like the n80 but its a little to costly then go with the 6270 since its only missing a few features from the n80 an it has a 2MP CAMERA! 😁

Release Date?

I know you said in the video that it would be later this year, but is there anything more concrete than that? They had a prior release date for Q1 2006, but those software issues came up... any idea now as to the release date?

Whats a good Comparison phone?

So here I am, in the US.. waiting now for 8 months for a new phone..living off an old black and white nokia.. Put my old Sony Ericson k700i away.. heres what i want..

A. Quadband phone, best possible service, 3g technology, something that can allow my laptop to work online anywhere i am thru the phone,

B. Gps nav software, something that i can use in my car or boat or walking around..

c. texts, e-mail abaility

d. video/pics at least 1 Mp, with high storage memory.

So far the Nokia N80 has come the closest to all my demands.. but seeing that I live out here and the possibility of waiting another 6 months for some new US version..

What other phone is comparable and powerful enough to what i want.. price is not...

Great phone, but expensive

Currently I have a Treo 650 on Cingular. I could see picking up the N80 to check email and surf the web at a faster rate. I would have to get a Cingular 3G SIM, but other than that it should work.

A while back I had a Nokia 3650, an early Series 60 phone that I really liked. I imagine the software's only gotten better in the meantime.

The big missing feature with the N80 is composing email using a QWERTY keyboard. If it had US 3G, I would pick up the E61 for sure. But the E61 is only 3G in Europe.

I live in Chicago, so will be sure to head to 545 N. Michigan Avenue around June 26 if there is a cool 3G phone to be had there.

No lens cover?

Is the lack of a lens cover a problem? Isn't the plastics covering the lens going to get scratched, etc. and effect image quality? Eric, do you think this is a problem?

Also, is there plastic covering the screen? I hope not. I carry my Nokia phone in my pocket, without a case, and it's a real hassle to periodically remove the dust from behind the screen.

Screen?

"... the bright QVGA screen . . "

I thought I had heard 352 x 416 ?

Maybe I'm just confused, any clarification would be greatly appreciated.

I have Tmobile.. Do I have to wait for a US Version?

Im kind of confused. I know there was a US Version coming for Cingular.. But I have Tmobile and plan on keeping that.. I can get an Unlocked Nokia N80 now.. But I read somewhere that the Euro version has WCDMA 2100 and US type will have 1900.. Whats the deal with this..

Do I have to wait for one that works better with US networks to come out? or will I be set with buying the current unlocked one for my Tmobile.?

I would rather wait to get one unlocked that works with US Networks better if that is coming in the future..

Someone please help clarify?

Thanks..

Difficulty entering text? Help Rich or BostionIrishGuy

I currently have a Samsung I500 with Palm OS. The best thing about the phone is that I can input a more than fair amount of data with ease directly with the phone. This is of course, because of the handwritting recognition pad and/or the touchscreen keyboard. I'm worried that only a num pad will hinder my productivity when it comes using the phone to directly input notes on the calender, memo pad, etc.

Is there anything different about the number pad on this phone that allows for easy input comparable to a Palm phone?

One more question: Do you know if the Freedom Mini Keyboard will work with this phone? If that works, maybe it is small enough to carry with my daily.

Price is Declining

The N80 price is declining from the online sellers. I guess the online sellers realise that with Nokia opening there 1st retail outlet in June they need to adjust their price plan for the N80.

http://www.plemix.com » is quoting $829.00 down from $1000.00+and

http://www.welectronics.com/gsm/NOKIA.shtml » is quoting $849.00

Why Make IT a SLIDER??

JUST make it a Candy Bar rather than a slider considering its thickness.

Understood that it packs in 3G/ 3MP camera, wifi and some good stuff in general.. but why make it a slider.. start off with a thick candy bar phone and than work the way down to a thinner slider when nokia has mastered the technology and the footprint..

Yeah I love it BUT...

After the N93 I know what I will buy...?
I was set on the N80 for months. Seems like the '93 kinda pushed the N80 into being outdated? Seems to me like US customers could care less about having a convergance device (much less BUYING one... after all we are all about FREE PHONES). There doesnt seem to be room in the US for an N80 AND an N93...
