E61 Frmware Update

From what I'v read, there appears to be a substantial firmware update for this phone - see the following url: www.symbian-freak.com/quides/firmware/logs/e6 1_new_firmware.htm

Who exactly are "Nokia Points and Nokia Service Points"? Since this phone isn't available from any provider in the U.S., I will purchase via web. Does anyone know how to find out where these service points are located?

wifi question

Pardon me for my basic level of ignorance here, but can anyone explain how I might be able to use the wifi feature of this phone? If, for example, I was traveling and went to an internet cafe or an office or a hotel that had wifi access, would I be able to connect through their wifi and check email/browse the web on the E61, as if it were a mini-computer (using programs on the symbian OS)? I'm a cingular customer, but with the wifi could I access the web through wifi anywhere, anytime, without going through cingular? I'm trying to figure out if this would, essentially, be able to replace my laptop for email and basic web services when I travel and want to travel light. Also, presumably, as a quad band phone, if I get an unlocked phone, I...

Should a novice buy this phone?

Thanks to all of you through this forum for your input on Nokia E61. It seems to be the perfect phone for me, but here's the prob... Can a phone novice such as me purchase this phone on the web and complete all required set-ups? Who can I call if I run into problems? What is an "unlocked" phone? Cingular does not offer this phone yet, but I need to stay with them. A dealer has indicated I can just insert my SIM card and it will work. Is it that easy? A local dealer has received a phone for me, but has not delivered due to problems "completing the downloads". If they cannot, what makes me think I can? Thank you all for your feedback. dwr317

E61 or E70

I've read fantastic reviews about both phones. Any opinions by real users? Would be most appreciative.

Buy E61 or Wait for E62

Any opinions whether I should wait for Cingular to release their own version of the E61? Pros and Cons?

Email Attachments

I woud like to ask E61 owners if they can attach LARGE documents (photos), say 500k and above when using the Nokia Email program.

I use a Nokia 6280 (S40 system) and it rejects large photo attachments. This includes photos taken by the camera itself !

Thank you. JUst want to know before investing in one.

Conference call on Nokia E61?

Hey Guys,
Wondering if conference call on E61 is possible and also how is call quality of E61. I'm in a fix between E61 and Qtek S200(HTC). Nokia's reliability is attarcting me more though but i like the features and size of S200. Any suggestions guys?

Thanks a bunch!

Help - Advice on Buying an E61

I've been in the market for a while for business use Smartphone and have been leaning to Windows Mobile device because I assume it will be easier to sync my Outlook email and contacts. Also, I am currently a Cingular customer, but can switch at any time.

Can you guys advise me on:

1. whether the E61 will work well to sync my Outlook calendar, email and contacts from my PC.

2. is the Symbian OS preferable to the Windows Mobile or Palm OS.

3. whether I can use the E61 with Cingular or any other US carrier? Which would be the best to go with for the E61.

4. how to buy the E61

5. anything else I need to know before I take the plunge.

64K Sim and Legecy Network

Does anyone know if this phone will support the Cingular 64K Sim Card with its advanced feature to pickup the Legacy (AT&T) network? The three towers in our area are still Legecy (AT&T) and have not been converted.

Regards

Contact Manager in Nokia PC Suite issue...

The sync feature in the Nokia PC Suite software works fine, but I now notice that very few fields from the original Outlook contact files map over to PC Suite. The most annoying one is that the "catagory" field doesn't map over to the "groups" field on the E61. Is there any way to correct this? Is there other sync software that would work (better)???

Trouble installing applications on E61

On every attempt to download & install apps, I get a message that reads: "Certificate Error, Contact the Application Supplier". These have been Symbian60 freeware apps and one was from the Nokia site that I accessed & downloaded directly from the E61. Nothing works. What gives? Also, anyone know of a financial calculator app for the e61 out there?
