Samsung P300

That phone might not be offered for the USA but that makes it's coolness factor all the more exclusive. Good thing it's triband GSM.

Video Calling?

on those new phones, there's no mention of video-calling.I wonder will we have that feature even on that HSDPA samsung?I was looking forward so much for that feature on Cingular just like on other European carriers.Anyone knows if the phones support it?

Motorola only announcing one new phone??

It seems weird that Motorola is only announcing one new phone. I thought that maybe the RAZR V3i would be announced.

Not much to write home about

Doesn't seem like many "earth shattering" toys coming out @ CES! What a shame... 😢

Rich

this is so off topic, I know, but since you are at CES......have you checked out the Alpine, Pioneer, and other car audio submissions? They usually do something to wow the hell out of me and I was just wondering what was there this year. (I still think that the Scion with the dj booth that slid out the back is still one of the coolest things I've ever seen.)

CNet has videos for:

the new Moto MINI BT headset
the Moto Razr v3i

HSDPA

I'm not entirely clear on what phones are HSDPA. I'm loving the specs on the Nokia N80 but I am not entirely sure if it is HSDPA. I think this article implies it is not so will not get the full 3.6 Mbps.

I've been waiting to buy a phone now for over two years. I'd like to get one that has the N80 specs. Should I just wait another 6 months for the full HSDPA phones to come out?

thanks

Rokr E2

Someone please tell me moto didn't drop the dual speakers and vibesync of the E398! That was one of its coolest features and I don't see any speaker grills on the E2 (unless they're hidden in the back).

am I the only one who wants this headset?

I think that the headsets have been getting too small and organic looking as of late.

I want a robotic, futuristic, helmet looking earpiece that I don't fear will ever be lost or fall off

"...speaker-independent voice dialing from VoiceSignal (unusual for a Samsung GSM phone)"

Ummmmm.....

and that's just on the Cingular side of the GSM boat. Considering there's only been the X497 POS outside of those for the last 6 months or so, that appears to be the majority, not unusual. Is it just me being picky? 🙂

The new Samsung for cingular

is ugly, why would samsung realize such sexy models for verizon and sprint but crap for cingular. I was about to complain about the fact that they have WCMDA models and the new HSPDA model's coming out semi back to back but then i realized that i'm guessing the regular WCMDA models will be cheaper then the HSPDA one's. Still pointless to me, I would much rather get a phone at the full speed espically if it's coming out 2 months afterwards.

Message Alert Tone (how to change to custom sounds?)

Does anybody know how to change out the message alert tones so that you can use custom sounds?

Thanks in advance.

Good and bad...

Pity that T-Mo gets that T809 when it's the worst carrier in terms of reception in the US (at least in every major city I've been in).

But that E61 with the keyboard looks really great! Can't beat that screen...

silent, vibrate, ring and vibrate?

yesterday i was trippen cz i thought my phone didnt just go to silent. It seemed to have just vibrate, or ring and vibrate or ring. where was silent. i tried everything

finally i found it. The silent mode. If you press the # button or a long time it will go to silent mode. Now heres the thing . . . if you want to have your phone vibrate on silent mode go to Setting, then go to sound setting, then silent mode-- there you have the option to either vibrate or mute it on silent mode. ONce you set it up then when you want to set it in silent mode just press the # button down for few and youll see that your phone will say "Silent mode on". To take it off just press on the # again till you see silent mode off. So you have the choice for i...
