Streaming audio?

Okay, so on the VERY FIRST TRY I was able to open up a 128k, stereo online radio stream from the internet and it played (www.radioseven.se). It was officially awesome. I found the exact url by playing it on my desktop, and choosing Properties from Windows Media Player, and copying it out. Money.

HOWEVER, as luck would have it, that was the only time I could get it to work. Now I can't stream any audio streams at all ☹️

Anybody else have success with this? I don't know what the heck is up with it ☹️

Can you use mp3's as ringtones?

And also, can you get full HTML web browsing on this phone? Oh, and does it have a good speakerphone? And does it take good pictures? That's all.

Instant Messaging

I don't see an IM application on the 2125. Anyone know if there is one and, if not, how I can use AIM or Yahoo (or both)?

Cingular 2125 vs Orange SPV c600

After reading all the positive comments about the Cingular 2125, I am considering trading up my Moto MPx220 for it.

About the only bad thing I've read about the 2125 is the hump and the power button issue (hard to turn on/off) due to it's positioning. I noticed that Orange's version in the UK, the SPV C600, has the same specs as the 2125 -- but minus the offending hump.

Does anyone know if there really is any difference in performance between the hump and humpless version of this phone? I assume Cingular chose to include the hump for some reason, but if there is no noticeable difference in call quality or reception, I would rather pay the extra cost and get the Orange version. Is this a mistake?

Good PDF reader?

I'd love to be able to read e-books on the phone, but from what I can tell, the PDF reader included is pretty weak. For instance, you must choose one of their predefined zoom levels, and there's no way to rotate the display. This means that, for most books, I'd have to constantly scroll right and left for every single line of text.

Anyone know of a way to change that or a good PDF reader that's out there?

ThinkOutside Keyboard drivers

😁

To anyone who's been waiting to use their ThinkOutside BT keyboard with their 2125 phone - they're ready!

You can now download the appropriate drivers from the ThinkOutside web site and install via your PC.

If you have a suitable data plan, you can install the appropriate drivers directly from the web to your phone without needing a PC connection. Just point your phone's PocketIE to www.thinkoutside.com and it will go directly to the appropriate driver download page for the .cab version of the installer.

You MUST install the drivers to your phone's INTERNAL memory and NOT to a storage card.

Thanks to ThinkOutside for their quick work on getting the updated drivers completed and posted!

2125 vs Treo 650 vs Nokia 6682

I currently have a Treo 650 and a Nokia 6682.
Looking to possibly get a HTC 2125, but before I drop $260 for a phone, what are the distinct advantages over the T650. I know that I will lose the qwerty keyboard, but to me that may be more than offset by a more stable OS. The Symbian OS has been pretty stable since I got the 3G sim card, but the Palm OS blows in my opinion.
Shouldn't have to buy so many additional apps to try and get to be a half decent phone. What too much static in the background vs the Nokia which is damn quiet and the blazer browser is slower than a turtle on ice. Tried the dslreports/mspeed test and lucky if I got to 55k vs the 80 to 90k on the Nokia.
I have seen reports that the 2125 is getting between 120 and 175 on ...

Cingular Insurance Plan

Does anyone have the Cingular Insurance Plan (extended warranty for $4.99 per month)? I just tried to replace my 5600 and they said that the insurance plan does not cover "smartphones/ PDAs". They said that they would replace my 5600 for a 5600 (reconditioned) as a one time courtesy but that they would then cancel my insurance for both of my phones (I have two). Does anyone know if this is true?

Problems with storage.

I just started messing with the phone (adding my address book favorites things like that) and it already says that it has a full hard drive and it needs things deleted. Has anyone else had problems with this? I have a 512 mini sd card and I haven't put anything on my phone outside of ringtones (that are a small .wav file.) What Gives?

Necessary Updates???

Hi! Just got the 2125 and am so far very impressed. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if the software updates at:

are really necessary. Everything seems to be working fine and this is a brand new product.

Thanks!

how to keep backlight off?

Do any of you know of a way to keep the backlight off when the keyboard is locked?

I agree with the general consensus that this is a great phone, but I'm concerned that the key lock feature is not sufficient to conserve battery power. After locking the keyboard by holding down the red phone button, the backlight still comes on with pressing any button (except the joystick). With the phone in the case that came with it, I find that the backlight comes on frequently. I set the settings to make the backlight go off quickly (5 sec), but it just seems like a lame design.
