Tethered Modem/Cingular Communications Manager

Has anybody tried to load the wireless modem driver from the CD that came with the phone?

I keep getting a Login screen, but it won't load the driver.

I've downloaded the Cingular Communications Manager and it won't load correctly either, although after MUCH playing around, I now have the HTC Modem listed in my device manager.

I'm using XP Pro and a straight USB cabale to try to connect, but no luck so far.

Bluetooth Question

Hi, with the 2125, if you have a Bluetooth Headset connected, is it possible to listen to MP3's through the headset? I know it's possible on several Nokia's but I don't know on this phone. Even if you're watching a video, is it possible to hear the audio through the bluetooth headset? Motorola's don't allow you to do this so someone please let me know. Thanks.

Video Resolution

Can videos play the full width of the screen? What is the video resolution?

Thinking of going with this from a Sony Erics. S710a.

For those who know, any degradation going from 262K colors to 64K colors?

Thanks!

File sync does not show up in active sync

I have had my 2125 for 4 days and so far it is great. I installed a 1GD miniSD card and sync'ed 500MB of media to it.

I have a problem with ActiveSync. The file synchronization option does not show up anywhere in activesync and the "pocket_pc my documents" folder was not created. All of the Outlook features sync and the media sync works fine.

Repairing the activesync install has not helped. Does anyone else have file sync working? If so what does your registry look like under HKCU\software\microsoft\windows CE services\partners\XXXXXXXX\Services\Synchroni zation ? Are there any references to file sync or the file sync directory? I have none.

Wait!!!..if you're gonna buy

Check this blurb out: https://www.phonescoop.com/news/item.php?n=15 49

Same phone as the 2125, but it has Wi-Fi. Doesn't mention anything about pricing.

I imported the european equivalent of the HTC Tornado (mine was the Qtek 8300), and the Wi-Fi is definately neat. My city has a few free Wi-Fi hotspots, and they are in neighborhoods with lots of bard and restaurants, so I can generally find free Wi-Fi coverage (not to mention in my apartment building where the phone seems to pick up more unsecured networks than my computer does).

I would say that if you are thinking about buying the Cingular 2125, and are pretty much indifferent between T-Mobile and Cingular, than you should consider waiting a few weeks to see what the deal is fro...

Anywhere in Michigan??

I own a SMT 5600 with a broken headphone jack....makes my phone stay in "Headset" profile. It still works with no headset and with my bluetooth headset, but I can't listen to tunes or vids....bummer (blue tunes work, but sounds like poop). I was planning to send it to Audiovox for repair....but then I see the 2125 is out. SWEET! The reception has to be better and even my slick new bluetooth stereo headphones will work with this new phone, so I gotta have one. I called about 20 of the closest Cingular stores to me (Flint area) this morning asking if they had the 2125 in stock. Every place that I called I got a "Huh, what's that? Who makes that? HTC..never heard of it." WTF....don't the people that own or work in Cingular stores have a...

WiFi via miniSD card? ...via BT? ...other?

I know that this phone doesn't have built-in WiFi capabilities. I'm wondering if either of the following solutions may be possible.
Any thoughts???

1) Does there exist some kind of a BlueTooth to WiFi bridge device? I'm thinking of the BlueTooth GPS receivers which receive GPS signals and then relays them via BT to the phone. Does anyone make a BT-WiFi bridge node type of device?

2) I know that the miniSD card seems to be under the battery on this phone. Does anyone know, however, if a combo memory/WiFi miniSD device would work aside from the physical design limitation? (Wondering if a physical hardware hack would be worth a try with this phone.)

Missing Icons/Internet not working

After calling cingular tech support i was referred to this site for some help. I am missing the icon at the top that says if it is connected to gprs or edge..i noticed it gone after i restarted it. I was told it had to do with the internet (gprs/edge) not being on all the time, and all i needed to do was find the setting and turn it on. I have looked and looked and i cant find it. This is really bothering me because
1) i liked the icon:-D
2) my network connection has not been doin so well.
now the G in a bloack appears above the bars (sometimes) but most of the time i get the error "Unable to place call" while surfing the net!!

Any help would be great,i am very new to the device so details would help even more.

HERE IS WHAT I HAVE ...

Valid $100 rebate?

The following $100-off rebate is currently listed on Cingular.com for the 2125

http://onlinestorez.cingular.com/cell-phone-service/ ... »

However, even after reading the fine print, I don't see why this can't be applied to a phone purchased in the store.

Anyone have success with this? If so, I'd have to step-up my mission to find this phone in a store as the rebate expires on Saturday.

Bluetooth stereo headsets

So a really important feature is the support of stereo bluetooth audio. It is rumored that it can be done with WM5 but I'm wondering if anyone has actually made it happen. This is a feature I'd really like to have. Please follow up if you have any input. I love my 5600 and it would be even better if I could watch movies on a 2125 with bluetooth audio 😁

Media quality

How good does MP3's sound when played on it? what encoder is everyone using to encode the videos? How good do they look when played? I'm trying to find out if it's good enough so that I won't need to buy another MP3/video player.

Thanks for any help.

How to keep my number?

My Sprint contract ended last week and I had to settle for the Audiovox with the understanding that I could bring it back in 30 days if (when) the 2125s come in.

I see the 2125 on the website but it is not in the stores.

Here's the problem... The company rep told me that if I bought the phone on the website I can't keep my phone number. He said that the store cannot help me with the activation either. What a bummer!

Am I missing something here? Any advice would be welcome.

Calendar in WM5 and syncing

I have synced my device with my work computer so that the items are duplicated on each. Is there a way to prevent the "reminder" function in the Calendar for Outlook from going off on my device?

In other words, I want the Calendar on my computer to remind me 15 minutes before an appointment, but I don't want my mobile device to also start making noise. Is there any way to do that?

If I turn off the "notification" sound in the options for the profile that i'm running, will that prevent OTHER notification sounds other than the calendar notification?

does anyone know?

2125 not found by Windows Media Player?

I cannot get my Windows Media Player (v.10) to recognize my 2125. I have shut off my firewall and have sync my device. I can transfer files, update outlook ect. but cannot sync media file. I have active sync 4.1 and when I try to sync files through active sync it tells my that I must partner with WMP. I go to WMP and press F5 to refresh but still get nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I also have the same problem when trying to transfer songs from Napster.

contacts

So if you have multiple numbers for one contact, how do you set which number should be the "default" number for that contact? In Windows Mobile 2003 there was a many option that set this, but I can't find it in Windows Mobile 5.0.

Rebate fun part duex (~$100)

All,

Okay, some advice is needed. The following $100-off rebate is online and valid through Feb. 11: http://onlinestorez.cingular.com/cell-phone-s ervice/media/pdf/CEN5_5010_1400.pdf?WT.svl=re b22

From the text of the rebate, it should apply to BOTH 1 and 2 year contracts. However, after spending the last hour on the phone with Cingular, they claimed that, regardless of the text of the rebate, it only applies to 2 year contracts.

I don't want to be locked into a 2 year contract, and I want the $100 off. Do I get a 1 year contract, send in the rebate, and just cross my fingers? Or will Cingular screw me over this and not honor the rebate?

Help?

2125 and incoming call issue?

Has anyone had an instance where an incoming call will ring, you hit answer but nothing happens for a second, then the call drops to voicemail? Or even an instance where the call goes to voicemail after ringing for about 3 seconds?
