Text Messages

If I recieve a text bigger than a page I can't read the message! It's really irritating!! Is this a phone problem or a cingular problem?
When I recieve the message I'll try to read it and it will say FAILED in the bottom of the screen. I have to turn my phone off, then back on and it will let me read the last few words of the message. Is anyone else having this problem?? 👿

Dose someone have info on this problem. The phone is new and under warranty. Do you think this is a problem with the phone or is this something that will happen to a new one also?

QUestions...

Hey,
I just purchased the Samsung SGH-D357 because my Motorola V180 9Hell bless it's soul) decided to flat out die.
I've got a few small questions that i hope possibly someone could to there best abilities attempt to answer. I've very, very limited sight (not enough to really do anything with) and I just want to know how you'd go about changing the ringtones? The manual is in PDF (which my screenreader hates to read) and I can't for the life of me figure out the which one of these buttons is 'select' and if these menus rap or not. If you could possibly just write out a simple walkthrough of how many times to hit each button etc etc to get to the 'incoming calls' ringtone thing, I'd be greatly in your debt.
One more thing and I swear i...

Crippled Bluetooth?

It says it has BT, but it supports Headset and Handsfree profiles.
This is the same thing the VZW phones say under BT...
Anyone know if Cingular is following the steps of VZW??? 👿 That'd be the last straw.

Was considering this phone.

My wife and I are considering this phone. But, it seems to lack a camera which is important to us. We have a little one.

I like the PTT feature and flip phones. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

SE z520a vs Moto RazrV3 vs Samsung D357

I just came back to Cingular (left Verizon) and have been using the SE z520a for about a week. I am 50/50 if I will keep it. I wanted to get some feedback regarding what you think the best phone is out of these 3 Cingular branded phones: SE z520a, Moto Razr V3 (black), Samsung D357. I am still in my 30 days exchange window.

My phones in the past have been Nokia, SE, then Samsung. I really want a small Nokia slider but my 30 day window ends this month. I mainly am concerned with battery, reception/clarity, ease of use, durability, voice dialing (for driving), easily fits in pocket, and looking forward to trying bluetooth. Lastly, I am in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Thanks for your time and help.

PTT disconnecting a call

I know you don't have to lift the front to use the PTT feature. But the only way I have found to disconnect the call is to lift the front and push the red phone button. Just wondering if I am overlooking something. I have looked through the manual and cannot find any info. If anyone has the answer I would appreciate the help. Otherwise love the phone and PTT feature had the LG F7200 and could not trade it back in fast enough.

Where's the SyncML?

I just got my D357 a few days ago and it's a great unit. However, I can't seem to find SyncML on it anywhere.

The Phone Scoop profile says it has it, and I've seen at least one post from someone who says they've used it on this phone.

The software date on my phone is 11/29/05, maybe it was removed for some reason???

Does anyone know anything about this?

First Samsung I like

I work for Cingular and Samsung gave us these phones to use while at work so customers could see the PTT in action. I have owned the X427 and used the E317 and X497. I was always dissapointed with the Samsung OS. However, Samsung has tweeked this one a little bit. If I were in the market for a new phone, I would seriously consider it.

Pros:
Great reception (especially for a GSM Samsung)
Bluetooth and Speakerphone
Light weight
Stylish design
phone book search is nice
fisrt and last name fields when programming
numbers is convenient
PTT is more convenient than I thought it would
be and is more convenient than M2M if you
have a lot of PTT buddies

Cons:
No camera
Outside LCD is B&W instead of color to
conse...

Info on the phone

The device does support Sync ML
It has almost 18 MB of internal memory....WOW
PTT setup on avg has been about 4-8 seconds
Ping time between calls is practically instant.
Battery life is still a work in progress as I am testing it.
Reception has been on better than average...inbetween Sony Ericcson and Nokia. Quite honestly surprised.

So far so good......I would say 4 out of 5 on initial use.
