100 Song limit

100 song limit only from the iTunes app. You can have more than 100 on the embedded MP3 player, a la the E398. $250 might not be so bad if you think of it as an E398 with a 512 MB card. And surely that price will be coming down for the holiday season I would imagine.

Why does Cingular always get the good Moto phones?

Motorola would sell a lot more phones if they didn't lock themselves down to Cingular. I'm with T-Mobile, and I'm sick and tired of Motorola always ditching T-Mobile. By the time it's released to T-Mobile, a new phone will be out - and odds are, Cingular will get that one first too.

Shame on Motorola for shunning all of the other big and small carriers. Guess I'll be buying the N91.

YOU KNOW THE SPYSHOT OF THE ROKR E1 at the last Moto event?

You remember the spyshot on the stage at the last Apple event when everyone thought they were going going to announce the ROKR but instead they announced the Q?

What do you think that phone was - it had an obvious scroll wheel and looked much better than this ROKR model they released. Do you think it will be the next proper iTunes phone?

I really wish iTunes never entered the phone market - I have no intention of buying iTunes songs from a phone and would much rather be able to transfer mp3's from my computer to my phone to play a la mass storage device instead of having to transfer THROUGH iTunes and worry about DRM, 100 song limits, and other stupid issues. I want a small cell phone like the Razr that has a 2mp camera, FM radio, an...

Should have used another phone

I think Motorola and Cingular should have chose the new SLVR L7 or the V8 to use with iTunes. Any thoughts on this?

Idiot's question - song storage

Ok, now I'm mildly confused. Are the 100 songs stored on the card or the phone?

Been an interesting ride...

I tried Cingular for the past month and on 8/30 returned the Nokia 6230 due to the buttons and screen being to small and tired of waiting in line everytime I went to a Cingular store.

Well I just reactivated my service and bought the new Rokr.

Here is what I think of the phone:

Love everything about it except the ringer volume is not loud. Even the reminder beep for a missed call is very quiet.
AND it is the first Moto I have ever seen without Continental and Classic ring tones. I have missed 3 out of 7 calls in my car with the radio quietly playing.

The E815 I had from VZW blew your ears of ringing as did all of my past Motos.

Spent 45 minutes on the phone with Moto but they couldn't h...

be glad you don't live in singapore...

If you think a 100 song limit is bad, it's a 50 song limit in singapore...

Crippled?

Hmm...the first crippled bluetooth handset for a GSM carrier?

From what I just read off of the Cingular site, it looks like bluetooth will only work for headsets.

Synch capabilities and mitigation on memory upgrades.

This is kind of speculatory as of now, but are we to imagine that the synching process will be similar to the iPod Shuffle? If they have a 100 song limit on the device there must be some type of strange synching option. Also, I have a Nokia 6230 that Nokia says will support up to 256MB MMCards but I have used a 1GB card and it tells me total storage is 256MB but will still allow storage on the full 1GB. Who thinks something like this may be possible with the ROKR E1? BTW the phone looks cool. It is too bad that Cingular is going to be carrying it. They're going to make it suck.

100 songs? Gimme a break....Get a Windows Smartphone

From the day it was born, the ROKR was trouble. Steve Jobs even had some trouble getting it to work the right way on stage—Jobs says he hit the wrong button, but people in the know say that the feature that lets you resume play after a phone call doesn’t work properly. What’s more, the iTunes client has been surgically connected to the Motorola V-series interface and the scars are showing. The screen isn’t wide or colorful enough to do the music store justice. The orange headphones shown in the Cingular ad weren’t the phones used for today’s unveiling. There is no support for Bluetooth headphones.

iTunes/Motorola firmware flash upgradeable to other Motorola devices??

Just wondering if anyone knows if the actual firmware in the ROKR E1 can be loaded on to let's say for example a Motorola V635? That would be cool for people who don't like the candy bar form factor.

VGA camera?

Maybe I expected too much...VGA camera is a huge dissapointment in this phone. What is this, 1999?

not in the same class as the w800

IMHO, spec-wise, this is a huge disappointment. VGA camera, visually boring, smallish screen, no edge, crippled bluetooth, etc etc etc

The only advantage it has over the w800 is GSM850, but this isn't important to everyone...

Obviously, this phone hasn't been reviewed, or even seen by many people, yet. We'll see then.

BTW-why don't phone manufacturers include an in line remote on thier headphones with music-oriented phones? The "end call" button is fine for business phones, but this is different.

In Most Stores Tomorrow!!!

I work at a Cingular store in CT. We will have the ROKR's as soon as tomorrow. Just looked it up in my inventory system and found out they are being overnight shipped from the warehouse. $249.99 with a 2-year contract. Not a bad deal for a phone, iPod, camera, bluetooth, and all that other cool stuff.
