Samsung SCH-A950

Perhaps I have overlooked something obvious, but is there any way to turn off the sound effect which is played after a missed call? Other than muting the phone entirely, of course...

Hey all, quick question here...

I'm trying to decide between 2 things:

Samsung Original Handsfree Stereo Headset
Product ID: AEP204VSEB-STD

or

A 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter


The advantage to having the Samsung headphones is that I can answer calls with the same headphones at the push of a button on the in-line mic, and the advantage to getting the adapter instead is I'll be able to use any headphones I want.

Any sugegstions?

I've just descovered podcasts. Awesome. Windows media player seems to do a good job of converting the MP3's to the format needed by the phone and sync'ing the files.

Except for NPR! Windows media player gives me a "Error: Windows Media Player encountered an unknown error". Anyone have any idea why? Thanks,

Hi, I just recently got the SD card for this phone and have already put sonme mp3's on. I am trying to put some ringtones on the phone via the sd card. I searched this as well as the howard forums and found some ways to do it, but the sound of the ringtones doesn't come out that good. I used the method of MP3-->Wav-->MP3 encoded wav-->renaming to mid. Some ringtones sound ok but some are preety bad.

Does anyone know how to got good sounding (real music) ringtones using the sd card? Thanks in advance for the help.

I tried putting some songs on my transflash card but they do not show up on my phone. When I tried deleting the songs it says that the disk is write protected. I cannot even put songs that I downloaded from V-Cast on it. What is this and how do i fix it? Thanks in advance for any help.

i just received a sandisk 512mb card. i transfered my pics to the card and was able view and copy them on mypc without a problem. i them tried to copy mp3 files from my pc to the card and keep getting error that the card can't be read. the card is not locked and i eve tried to format the card using windows xp. i then noticed that the card is listed as being 484mb in my computer. i cant believe that the fat table takes up so much room.
is it my sd reader or my card?

any ideas?

I received my samsung and microsd card a couple of days ago. after converting some of my songs from mp3 to wma and transferring them to my phone, i noticed that some of the songs couldn't be played.

i read in this forum something about licenses. can somebody tell me more about this license thing and what i can do to play the songs without the license?

The main thing i've noticed about this cell phone and the Razr is that all the leather cases that i could find leave the top of the phone / hinges exposed. Has anyone found a place to purchase a case that covers the entire top of the phone / hinge?

I know you can lock it by going to settings, system, lock code etc,..but I am wondering if there is a faster way. My old LG was easy, all you had to do was press and hold the pound key and it automatically locked.

Not sure if I should switch phones to the LG8100 bc I really need to lock the phone easily.

I was doing some battery testing over the last few days and found a nasty bug.

The timers in the 950 are wacky.

Reset your timers and try this.

If for instance I am on a call sometimes and let's say the call is 10 minuts long. A call Waiting comes in which I tell the person I will call them back. The 2nd caller drops off but the phone records the time for that call as the length of the whole call and adds it to the entire usage.

What does this mean ?? Your phones hours usage is going to be way more than it really is..

If you go to the call list when you hang up you can see that both people got a long talk time and it's all wrong.

What do we do ?

I have a 512mb TransFlash card, do I need a reader to transfer files to and from the car to my PC or do I put it in the phone and connect the phone to the PC with the USB cable?

(keep in mind I have all these dumb questions becuase I still don't have the phone, Feb 27th is the day!!!)

While on my speaker phone lately the people on the other end have been getting feedback occasionally (they hear their own voice echo). Wondering if anyone else has experienced this at all or if something might be wrong with my speaker. Thanks

Okay here it is, it's very weird but it's in the earpiece design.

So take the phone out of the case and or just simply keep anything away from the earpiece..

Yes when you are on the speakerphone, the earpiece is doing echo cancellation and when something is near it it causes feedback and it sounds crappy to the other caller.

Being in electronics and I have done electronics design work, I would have never ever imagined, but thats it..

We have quite a few 950's runnign around our office and they are all perfect. They sucked when we had the case on..

Please....no opinions....only if you ACTUALLY HAVE the new V-Cast music firmware and a USB cable.... 🙄

There have been various comments/posts in regard to the latest firmware and it's effect on MP3's vs WMA's. I understand that downloaded music from V-Cast music will be WMA. Can you, with the new firmware and the USB cable, still transfer MP3's to the phone and play them. AGAIN, please, only if you have actual, hands-on experience in using this phone. I'm tired of reading the "I heard that..." posts.

Ok, I've tried everything I can think of. I have a 512MB Sandisk transflash card with a transflash reader. I hear constant skipping when playing the mp3's on my phone. I do not hear skipping when I play the mp3's directly from the transflash card through my pc. none whatsover. I've taken several cd's and ripped them into several bit rates. I've tried 80MB,128MB,192MB,320MB and all skip. The skipping is more pronounced at the higher bit rates. I've reformated my transflash card several times via my pc and through the phone itself. I am affraid if I take my phone back I will lose my mp3 playing ability with the new firmware. any suggestions

OK, just went by the local store and picked up two A950’s for my wife and myself. Looks to have the new firmware on it (v. a950.yk24) so I’m interested in my options.

Personally, I think the phone itself is very nicely done, but the artificially imposed limits Verizon has implemented are driving me crazy. Their software is eating 12+mb of the internal 24mb, if you use their USB cable and sync up additional songs only 2-3 will fit, even after you load your music you can’t use it as a ringtone. You can’t download your camera images even though they are stored in the same memory area as the WMA’s, etc…

So far it looks like I have 3 options:

Hey! I'm one of the ones that is involved in the V710 settlement, well didn't know till I got the letter the other day. Well it says that I have the option to get a new phone I can choose any one that is offered from VZW online. I've looked at them on here and their website, as well as going into the store and looking at them in person. I'm trying to decide between the Samsung 950, E815, and razor. I actually liked the 950 and razor looks better, but a friend has the 815 and has recently hacked his. Which do yall think? I like my 710 but didn't really like the 815 in person. I would mainly like decent camera quality (anything is a step up from 710) and MP3 songs and ringtones without having to use GET-IT-NOW crap. any advice or helpful tips ...
