1) someone poetsed a way to force digital cdma and not use evdo to save battery life. i did a *228 and it went back to both digital cdma and evdo. i forgot how to change it back to just digital cdma.

2) any news on new firmware?

I'm not very impressed with the pre-loaded ringtones on this phone. You can call me old school or unhip, but I really don't want the ringtones you can find online. I just want the standard 'ring ring' ringtone. Does anyone know how to get this? Are there any websites that offer this? Any help would be great. Thanks.

So who have you guys found to have "the price" on cards? 256, 512, or even 1G. Best price and reliable source? 🙂

The SCH-A950 was sold as the "MP3 Maestro". Samsung has renamed it "Music Maestro" and removed all mention of mp3 support from their site.

I would like to know what is the difference in using Evdo, Cdma & Hybrid on this phone?

Which one allows you to get more battery life from your battery and which one gives you better reception on the phone 🙂

I just read your review and wanted to let you know that after you have had at least three of the same model of phone replaced due to issues such as yours, you CAN request a replacement phone of a different model. They probably didn't tell you that, but if you seriously do want a different model, let them know.

Hello, I dropped my cell phone and car ran over it. It still is in one piece, but there is crack on red face plate. Amazingly, lcd's are still in good condition. Would verizon give me new phone or repair this phone or do I have to get new phone using my own money. Thank you

This is my first post so hello to all! I wanted to post the instructions on how to get MEPG's on to a Transflash card if you use a Mac. There is a cost involved for this-you need to have Quicktime Pro, which costs $29.99, but the program can be used for many things besides this. You can download it from Apple's website. You can also get the second program needed for this: MPEG Streamclip. It is freeware-just do a search in OSX Downloads.

Ok-on to the instructions. Take any MPEG-formatted file and drag it into MPEG Streamclip. Go to File and choose Export to Quicktime. I used a 426x240 framerate but you can experiment. hey i don't have the samsung a950 but just bought it off of ebay for $300 because i lost my e815 which was awesome and i've been reading howard forums and a lot of people have been complainging about the sound cutting in and out and now im worried has anyone experienced that here??

My original A950 was stolen and replaced by Verizon. Since activating the new A950, fewer and fewer calls are coming through. Nothing shows up when someone tries to call me, no ring (the volume for everything is turned up to the max). I just get a ring for a voice mail a couple minutes later (usually when I pick up the phone to try and call someone else.)

At first most calls came though, I would get an occasional voice mail without a missed call showing up. Then for a while it only rang for people not on my contact list. Now it seems its just not ringing whatsoever.

Any ideas? I've contacted Verizon on numerous occasions and they have no idea. I'm going to the verizon store later today, but they have proven to be rather clueless in mos...

When you charge the battery, how do you turn off the outside display? It acts like a night light when I charge the phone. I read the manual and found no way to turn this off or the service light?

I currently have the 512mb card and it holds about 100 or so songs because very few of my songs are at 128kps. Just wondering if anyone heard anything on the 1gb card. 😁

I got this phone a week ago and it chirped and beeped during calls. I exchanged it for another one which also now chirps and beeps during calls. I've tried changing the network EVDO, CDMA, etc. but nothing seems to make a difference. Any suggestions?

i have had the 8100 since the begining of october and have loved the phone... the conly complaints i have are that it feels very bulky in my pockets, cant use sounds as ringtones, you cant use the speaker phone closed and the earpiece volume. now i was at a party and i noticed my friend had the samsung counterpart and it seemed WAY thinner... i put it im my pocket and i couldnt even notice it was there. so i was talking to him about it and he said he could use his sounds as ringtones... this pissed me off knowin that i can not... to make matters worse, he said he could use the speaker with the phone closed! now- are there any things better about the 8100 than the samsung 950 that should keep me from switching... thanks 4 your help guys

OK i got the SCH-a950 and i love it and i want to use the mp3 player. I baught a transflash card then a sandisk 5-in-1 card reader/writer. Can some one give me step by step directions on how to get the mp3s to work on my phone. any help would be appreciated and include if i need to make folders or anything else of that nature. Thanks.

Whenever I am receiving or sending a call, before the phone begins ringing, out of the speakers a voice says "Verizon Wireless"

It is very annoying and if anyone knows how to turn it off, I'd appreciate it if you let me know.

i bought the 512 flash thingy and this other thing to play mp3 players. i have yet to install them.

#1 is the mp3 player THAT good? like is it easy to browse songs, and play them? i know it cant be as good as an IPOD...

#2 just like the ipod, do i hook my phone up to my cpu via usb cable and download songs onto it?

#3 can i listen to the mp3 player in my car? like can i hook up a cable from the phone to my blank cassette player in my car ala the ipod?

#4 how do i get ringtones? besides paying for them? i tried to "record" some sounds for ringtones, but the quality was poor.. can i use mp3s as ringtones possibly?

#5 what is the best thing about this phone IYO and the worst thing IYO
