Sprint & IP-830w and world roaming

Does anyone have any idea why Sprint stopped offering this phone? I'm looking for world roaming on Sprint service combined with PDA. This phone seemed to fit the bill.

Do you have any recommendations for other phones for the above criteria?

Thanks!!!!

I cant seem to figure out anything on the GPS or even if this phone carries it... but its a global phone... it has to have GPS .. right???? somebody please write back to this ASAP the customer is calling me tomorrow and I need to know how to access it.

Thanks so much!!

What this phone needs is wireless broadband

Aside from the i830's lack of a camera and its use of a superseded Windows operating system, this phone urgently needs wireless 3G capability in EVDO and UMTS and or EDGE flavors in order to make it competitive. Until then, I will wait for the next version.

So I could use my sprint service with my cingular service at the same time? How do you switch between GSM and CDMA on it? Can You have both on at the same time?

Too Bad...

Hmm... I've actually seen a decent prototype of the i830 back in july, which included a camera in the center portion of the back, but it doesn't seem as though Samsung/Verizon will release it anytime soon... Was also hoping for Windows Mobile 5.0 or at least BT V 1.2 upon its release on this one... Oh well, at least it works on the EVDO network- Certain rumors implied that it wasn't going to happen... Guess i'll stick to my i730 for now...

SCH-i830

Does any one know if you can use any GSM chip, and not limited to Verizon. They tell me it can only work with there chip. GSM is GSM unless you need an unlock code. Reason is, GSM chip, lets say in the UK costs about $8 and pay as you go, no need to pay Verizon crazy roaming fees for there chip.

Why isn't Windows Mobile 5.0 on this phone?

I am perplexed why the i830 is NOT being released with Windows Mobile 5.0. Is there a reasonable explanation? Can a user install 5.0?

Does the i830 operate on GSM 1900?

I have used Verizon's other CDMA/GSM phones and GSM 1900 is not supported (ie you can't use these devices for GSM in the USA). The specs for this model list both GSM frequencies. Can anyone confirm this functionality?
