Samsung SCH-i730
Does the i730 continually link to the internet/EVDO network?
I'm mostly interested in using the i730 for the PDA and cell phone functions without signing up for the internet service. Does anyone know if the i730 continually attempts to link to the internet like the Treo? Or can you turn that feature off?
I don't want to get caught at the end of the month with a huge cell phone bill, b/c the i730 was linked to the internet on a per minute basis.

Improvements
I'm thinking about buying the i730, and a lot of you have the same common problems. Verizon had a link to upgrade the software dated 8-31-05 (after many postings)to address the BT usage, speakerphone clarity, etc.
Has anyone experiences improvements and would give it a higher (or lower) rating than before?

Video player
I put 3 mpg files on an SD card and it will not list them in the media player. I search them with file explorer and it sees it but when i click on it, it says open the applications and open it from there. Has enyone encountered this? I bought this thing hoping that it would be pretty good in terms of playing video media being that it has windows media 10. Anyone know how to get that working? I never tried avi files. help anyone? 😳

I730 with Motorola HS810
Has anyone had experience using the Motorola HS810 Bluetooth headset with the I730? I was successful with the paring procedure, could MAKE calls, but could not ANSWER calls via the headset. The HS810 is supposed to answer a call when the mic boom is opened. It does not.
Note: The HS820 works perfectly however. I just prefer the HS810 because of the ease of use.

Mobile 5 compatiblity with i730?
I've been looking at both the XV6600 and the i730. (The Treo 650 is way out-classed in this field.)
One thing that is a major deal buster for the XV6600 is that Audiovox is saying that it's platform is not compatible with Windows Mobile 5. Everything that I've read about WM-5 sounds good: Greatly improved one-handed phone use, increased battery life, better data protection during loss of power, etc.
Does anyone have solid information on the i730's compatibility with WM-5.

Newbie to VZ i730 PocketPC
New to this forum...
Can someone briefly explain how email is pushed to the i730 via Verizon?
I have Exchange 2003 at work, is there any additional software or setup needed for emailing to this device?
Verizon Wireless Sync? Is this correct? I'm assuming?
1. Someone send me an email to my work address.
2. Exchange sends it to ____? Verizon Wireless Sync perhaps?
3. The i730 needs to find a wireless access point, or Verizon pushes the emails via the vz network to the device.
Do I get emails instantly? or do they not come in until I hit some buttons to sync?
Please let me know, any info would be much appreciated.

Do you know how to delete system files?
Has anyone figured out how to delete system files on the i730? The i730 has background files that use up about 23k per file but they can not be deleted.
When a new computer is launched with XP, the system file directory is initially locked out and the user has to "give permission" to access the system files.
My i730 is continually running low on system memory even though I constantly clean it out and delete unnecessary Internet files. I contacted Samsung about deleting factory installed software and they say it can't be done. My viewpoint is, if it is a PC then it can be done. The problem is figuring out how.

SMS notification tone
I just switched over to the i730 from the Sony Ericsson 910a. On the Sony i was able to my own MP3s for not only the incoming call ringtone, but for other notifications such as a new SMS. I would like to use the same MP3s as alerts for this device as well. Figuring out how to set the phone ringtone was easy, but for the life of me i have not figured out how to use my own MP3 tone for new SMS notification. Does anybody know how to do this?

External Bluetooth GPSs & i730
Has anyone been able to connect an external Bluetooth GPS with the i730? I took my Teletype GPS to the store and tried to do so with the demo unit. It looks like Verizon has striped out all of the standard Bluetooth applets from the OS and replaced them. The i703 could see my device but there was zero confirmation that they were actually connected. Hopefully someone out there has got this working with one of the popular mapping software titles like Copilot, Tom Tom or Teletype. If so, I would be interested to know about the interaction & compatibility of running mapping software w/Bluetooth on while taking phone calls or perhaps Internet browsing.

Messing around and changed background, please help!!!
I just recieved my i730 today and must say so far I'm amazed by what this phone can do!! I was messing around with some pictures I had on a memory card and ended up changing the background of the Today Screen to the pic. I was able to get the actual background back to default...BUT when you tap Start, the background of the Start Menu has the pic that I had on the memory card...the problem is that the pic is mostly black and you can't read any fonts behind it!! Does anyone know how to change the background of this menu, i couldn't find anything in the manual about it!

KeyLock Feature?
Sorry, I just got this phone and I looked through the stupid manuals n stuff for information, but I get get the damn key lock off. this being a problem b/c I have to slide the phone open everytime just to access any controls. I want to be able to operate the phone without having to open the keyboard portion. HELP PLEASE, also is there a newbie forum somewhere that give more basic information?

Disconnects after dialing
After I dial a phone # the phone will immediately drop the call because there's a data session in progress. After I dial the # again it goes through w/no problem.
Anyone else having this problem? Are we suppose to end a data session before dialing?

Tiny Keyboard, Anyone have problems?
I have found that I love the Samsung i730. The only thing I don't like is the keyboard. Has anyone besides me found that it's small and awkward to use?

Has anyone got this phone to work with Prius or Lexus?
I am planning to buy an i730 and I own a Prius. Has anyone been able to establish a working bluetooth connection between the two? Lexus has the same BT settings as the Prius, so, for any Lexus owners that have done this, I would really appreciate some help and guidance.

Anyone find a case for the i730
I am looking for a case with a belt clip. I hate the case that came with the phone. I had one for my Treo 600 & 650 that worked well but can't find anything for i730. Thanks for your help.
