I am starting to get really upset with Verizon!!!

You pay extra money to get exceptional cellular service. With that comes jealousy from every other providers phones. Why can't Verizon put their brain into effect? Most Verizon customers have money. I don't think that putting a phone out that costs a couple hundred extra dollars but has the megapixel camera built-in would shun away thousands of customers. After all, the people who are shopping for an i730 are obviously not money conscious. For that matter, does anyone have any idea what this almost perfect phone is going to cost? 😡 😡

Why do they still use the big ol' antenna?

I find it hard to believe they couldn't modify the headphone jack to accommodate a tri-wire headset so that the big long wire going to your headset couldn't act as a good antenna for additional boost - same thing with the car adapter. I would imagine they could make the internal antenna adequate otherwise.

Will an OEM Unlocked version (ever) be available?

Anyone have a sense of the possibility or likelihood that an unlocked version of the i730 might ever be available? (or is that only done with GSM's?)

IR can control home entertainment equipment?

Did anyone else notice this? -->

Infrared (IR) can control home entertainment equipment

Does it mean that they have a higher powered IR transmitter than required for the usual "sync" to a PC?

No camera? Who cares? I need speaker phone!

No camera? who cares? Sure, it would be nice to have one for my OCD gadget conscious, and in agreement with someone else that posted: I have my own 5MP camera on the side, and don't need one on the phone. Besides, the quality of phone pics are hardly worth looking at anyway (with the exception of Paris Hilton 😉 ).

Regardless: surely you will be able to turn up the volume to non-phone PPC's right? I mean, I use every bit of my 1200 min/mo and then some. I run a business on this phone. I hold on this phone. I neeeeeeeed speaker-phone. I pray to the Samsung Gods that they write the needed code to allow this functionality, or that the no speaker phone option listed on this site is inaccurate. Am I the only one thinking this, or am...

Smaller than the Magician, my ass....

I am sure a lot of you have seen the picture of the i730 next to the Magician (if not just do a google search for i730 and Magician), but that was total crap. I was looking forward to this phone because of its size, but now I am having reservations....

Will the wiFi be crippled also?

With Verizon wanting to sell their EV-DO service, do you think the wi-fi will actually work on this phone. Verizon wouldn't actually let one of their customers use a service that they didn't have to pay them for... That's why I'm happy I don't sell their phones. Did you know that when you try to use Mobile Phone Tools 3.0 with the V710, the software doesn't display any of the multimedia features. What a bunch of jerks.

really, no camera?

The original stories on this predicted a 1.3 MP camera. Sad to not see that as one of the features, if that is really the case.

Any word as to a camera version of this coming out?

Just bought XV-6600 (with Camera)...

Just bought the audiovox 6600 w/ camera a few days ago and now I see THIS phone! Looks like I'll be spending more money when it comes out! Hopefully, it'll be a while so I don't feel so bad about getting rid of the 6600 after using it for such a short time. This phone just looks too good to pass up!

Nice Phone

I work for Cingular but I have to admit Verizonhas a nice phone on thier hands with this. Even without the camera its still a great phone and its does show to have the OBEX profile which many verizon users have complained about. As long as the phone makes it to the mkt it will sell regardless of carrier.

I think what is missing

That should have been reported were the small upstart companies.

I talked to some of the manufacturer reps and more than a few of them were impressed with the design and build qualities of some of the smaller Chinese and Korean venture groups.

One group that was really impressive at the show was NewGen with their really cool designs.

Under an inform discussion in the eating area, some of the these product managers feel that in the next 10 years, some of them (like Hop On, Bird, New Gen, Telson) maybe in the top 10 market and some of the older stalwarts in the world markets (like Alcatel, Philips, Siemens and Mitsubishi) may pull out as phones becomes total commodity items.

Samsung i730

Is there any news on the Samsung i730? Will it be Verizon? When might it be available? Also, any hints if the WIFI portion will be enabled?

FasTap ??

What happened to Digit Wireless' FasTap?

Were they at CTIA? They have a really cool product but its still only in one phone. I for one want FasTap on my phone and i wonder why it still only in one phone. Problem?

About "Cingular" on the F7200 screen...

Like I mentioned for reasons stated in the new Part 2, I complied with LG's request and covered up the carrier logo on the F7200 keypad.

I'm sure some of you also noticed that it said "Cingular" on the display, and I did not cover that up...

That was intentional. It was not an oversight, and is not any kind of "cheating" with LG's request.

The deal is... what a GSM phone says on the screen is not necessarily the carrier that brands and sells that phone. Depending on how the phone and/or SIM chip are configured, the name on the screen is usually that of the carrier that sold the SIM, or the current network the phone may be roaming on.

So the fact that it says "Cingular" on the screen means very little and doesn't necessarily gives...
