i730 is the best PDA phone out so far

I cannot speak too much on this but just accpet the fact that this is going to be the best Smartphone for any carrier. I cannot give approximate release dates but it will be out sooner then people think.

Can't disclose anymore. Sorry.

Didn't your mama teach you to share

Man, I really want the i700 for sprint! Does anybody know if sprint will be getting a new pocket pc phone anytime soon? Mobile win 5.0 is out. I'm looking at the audiovox 6000, which is an awesome phone, but I do not want to spend all that when new technology is coming out soon.

Anyone know anything on the sprint future lineup?

No DUN !!!

Classic Verizon. When I saw this phone my first thought was, "what is Verizon going to do to screw up this phone". Gladly I don't have to wait another year for it to come out to see what the messed up. EV-DO + OBEX - Verizon you were SOOOO close.

Well here's to hoping there will be an full bluetooth SDIO card that will work with the phone

Samsung SCH i730 - Out of stock on i700

Verizons web site shows that the 700 is out of stock. I am curious since their stock is depleted if this will have an impact on the release date of the 730? I have seen posts here that speak of training for various branches of the company. Considering all the prep work, training, inventory of the 730 and now the old 700 stock being cleared out you would think that it is primed for release.

Sync with ACT

I use ACT as my contact database. Will I be able to sync well with the Samsung SCH-i730 or any PDA phone that uses the Windows Mobile for Pocket PCs platform for that matter?

Windows 2003 - Why Bother?

Since 2005/magneto shouldn't be that far off, it is hard to justify buying a new ppc. I have a 2003 device that I sure as hell wouldn't have bought if I didn't HAVE to have one back in November. PPC has too many issues but then again so does Palm OS 4.x.

I'm not positive if a Palm OS6 and a Windows 2005 device were availble on a somewhat similar device which I would go for but at this point I would do my best to hold out for either before putting any money into a new device. It would be fine if they said buy this now and you will be able to upgrade to the next OS but unlike PCs there is no guarantee on an upgrade.

any thing on a sprint version

I googled the samsung-i730 and on mobile burn they say sprint has already announced such a device. Any word on such a thing. This phone looks and sound bad ass but I'm not willing to switch just for the phone.

Possible problem with i730 and PPC 2005 (Magneto)

I was originally hot after the 6600 when it first came out. The lack of a camera in the initial offering was a deal buster for me, but shortly thereafter Verizon made the camera version available and it looked like life was good.

Then I heard about the i730. Faster processor, possible MP camera, WiFi, which I don't currently need, but could be useful in the future, hopefully a better battery life, etc. Life was looking even gooder. But then I noticed that the i730 only has a 64M RAM, vrs. 128M on the 6600. Probably not a problem until I read a detailed Beta review on Windows Mobile 5.0, aka Pocket PC 2005 or Magneto, slated to come out Jun 05.

over in the "CTIA 2005" discussion:

CCD Camera Phones

Were there any camera phones that use a CCD sensor rather than a CMOS?

All the megapixels in the world done mean a thing if the lens and the sensor are not high quality.

If you compare the MPX220 1.3 mp CMOS camera to the SE S710A 1.3 mp CCD camera there is no comparison.

Aside from the s710a are any other manufacturers planing on putting together a phone with a CCD camera to compete with the s710a?

The reason I ask is that I like all the features on the Sony-ericsson, but I do not like their interface. I may stand alone on this fact but I prefer the motorola interface, especially when it comes to their predictive text input and various menu navigation.

I am trying out the s710a for a few days and I have decided they...

Java?

Phone specs seem to typically show "Java" as a "yes or no" feature - as if it will either run Java applications, or it won't.

The feature list on this guy indicates "no", but if phones are like PC's - you ought to be able to just download and install a platform-compatible Java Runtime Environment (JRE), unless the VM on cell phones is somehow embedded - e.g. "firmware".

Does anyone know if devices without factory-enabled Java can be made Java-capable?

A camera does matter to some!

For the record, (I700 user) the camera option does matter to some of us. I have used mine off and on again and it's really great to have but the resolution stinks!! Can anyone comment on if they are still planning to release a version with the camera??? If so, how soon?

Thanks,

Teezer Page

Appears odd that Verizon has a teezer page for the Treo 650 only and not for any of the others mentioned so higly. Namely the Sammy SCH i730. Maybe because Treo's are so popular? I prefer the Sammy I730. Also, several of there PDA's (Sammy i700, Treo 600)are sold out according to their web site. I hope they release all the smart phones soon. 🙄

The Verizon tech support boys are practicing with our toy

I have been waiting to see if any one else has been posting any news about the release on the I 730 when I talked to them on last Monday they were having practice sessions which usually means they will release with in the week. Looks like the enterprise guys will be the first to get them, as there is no camera on the working models 😈 (spy phobia) - just holes where good stuff should be. Come on Verizon give it up to us deserving ones, and lets see if see if it is as good as the press prereleases are puffing up.

Ad Hoc networking?

😁
Hey guys, first post here, pretty stoked about the VZW Reps trianing info...can't wait til it comes out!

Say, I am thinking about ditching my VX6600 due to the lack of WiFi....since it is my first PDA phone, I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to set up a Ad Hoc network via the WiFi to get a larger bandwidth through my laptop? Any thoughts on the subject for you GSMers that have messed around with WiFi on a PDA Phone? Thanks for the great posts!
