LG VX-8100

Hey there everyone, I was just wondering if anyone could help me with a little problem. I used to put .wma files on my phone instead of mp3s and the outside mp3 buttons on the flip worked fine...I could press the play button and songs would begin to play. I recently figured out how to put mp3s on my phone and altough I can access them though my menu screen, I can't just press the play button on the flip to get the mp3s to start playing. An error screen pops up saying that there are "no songs found." Any ideas?

I recently joined a ring-tone download site that has ring-tones for the LG 8100. The site is called freeringers.net

I have been able to download ring-tones to my phone, but the phone places them in a file called "My Sounds". It looks like I need to be able to download them to the folder that is called "My ring-tones".

Does anyone know how to do this, or how to move the ring-tone to the proper file?

Is it possible to use downloaded ring-tones from this site? Please help...

On my previous verizon phone, an LG VX6000, I could reply to a text message with 'reply with text'. I get many text messages from my computer via email using the '#.vtext.com' method, and I need to reply with the text back for esoteric reasons.

My LG VX8100 doesn't seem to have this - in fact, when I try to compensate by forwarding the text msgs to the same mailbox they came from, the phone tells me that it "can't send special characters to an email address", even though it could on my previous phone. It seems impossible to simply send the same message back to the sender.

I've looked through all the menu items I can, and have come up with nothing. Does anyone know of online manuals for this phone? Any ideas?

Does anyone know why I can't transfer my mp3 ringers to bitpim any more? I see the songs but it says 0.0 kb and it says unkown format. Please help if you can.

Does anyone have any new news on v8 coming out? I've seen the rumors of VZ Navigator, which would be super-cool, as well as some other claimed things... but honestly bugfix-wise the phone has been awesome since v7. I had none of the little gremlins I had with v1 or v3 (which weren't major, but still). But turning my phone into a GPS mapper would be sweet for sure.

Are there any other new hints at what the change log will entail? Or when we might start seeing it trickle across the country?

I don't plan on migrating to an 8300. It's just not 'that' different and in some ways looks a little cheaper with the gray color scheme. This thing scratched so many itches with it's functionality that it'll be interesting to see what becomes ...

Just looking for cool apps, accessories, and features to use with my 8100. I don't live in a Vcast area so thats out. Any suggestions?

Can you use the memory card to move the sounds from my sounds into the ringtone folder?

I have a brand new LG VX 8100 ,its a week old.The people I call are always telling me they cant hear me when i use the speaker phone and secondly the speakers are on this phone are just outright terrible alot of crackling on the speakers. Jabra 350 bluetooth sucks with this phone !.Anyone else haveing problems with there speakers and speaker phone ?

So I enabled the mp3 player on the phone, but the only way to get files on there is one at a time. If I try to copy over a folder full of songs i.e. an album, nothing shows up on the My mp3 menu. If I put all the songs I want on the card, is there then a way to separate playlists? (I have, but don't fully understand Bitpim) if that helps. Thanks in advance.

I finally figured out how to make ringtones and get them on my phone using BitPim. Problem is every time it shuts off, it comes back on with none of the ringers available. They remain on the card, but the phone no longer sees them. Can someone help me to load them onto the actual phone memory? Also, my phone tends to randomly shut down. is this a normal error for the 8100? Thank you for any feedback.

The VZ Navigator looks awesome. I would love to have all the functionality of Tom Tom without buying a bulky, expensive system. However, there is no download for it yet on this phone. It is EXTREMELY capable of this program since its almost identical to its 9800 (the V) counterpart. Any news.

ok so im getting ready to upgrade in may, and im contrasting the v3c and this phone, simply because the samsung sch-a930 is taking FOREVER to come out.
anyway i was wondering if you could zoom WHILE taking a video on this phone. can you do this with the razr?

I have had my phone for about 6 months now and all of a sudden, my battery has began to fluxuate. It will show 1 bar after about 5 hours of being unplugged and then in about 4 more hours it will say it has 2 bars and then it will go back to one bar and back to two bars. Does anyone else have this problem. I have version 4 if that makes a difference.

I recently purchased a 2G memory card for my phone and it seems as if it is not holding all of its capacity. Under my phone memory it says I have 2757 KB used and 29469 KB available yet wont let me put any more songs in. Also, under My MP3's, it says no content is saved. If anyone has any answers to this please reply. Thanks

im getting this phone shipped to me cuz my LG VX 7000 broke on me and they are sending me this one now. how much are the mini SD cards for the phone to put music on?

I just picked up a LG 8100 and I noticed everything I recieve a call the lights right under the camera lens blinks blue and red, however only the right side does. I see two little white things that appear to be lights under the semi see-through plastic. I know it's alittle silly but it really bothers me haha.
can someone who owns a lg 8100 tell me if only the right side blinks red and blue when they recieve a call or is there another light on the left side that's suppose to blink aswell?

Anyone hear anything on the Nokia 6615i? Supposed to be far superior than the LG, and headed for VZW 🙄 .

Has anyone heard when Verizon will release the 8300? The press release said the second quarter of 2006 which could be anywhere from today to June 30th. I called Verizon and they had no information on when it will be released. LG said it is up to Verizon. Anyone know for sure?

LG-8400 & LG-8500 announced also. 8400 supposed to be a step below the 8300, with no EVDO or memory slot. Nothing much on 8500. Hope there is an improvement to the reception and Bluetooth, although LG is not noted for great signal strength or long life battery. 😕

All:

Playing with a new LG VX 8100 (not really new, received in January, just didn't activate until a few weeks ago) and getting a really annoying issue with texts.

Half the time, I'll receive them anywhere from 5 minutes to 3 hours later than when they were sent. Just looking at one:

May 20, 3:59pm
STORED: May 20, 4:13pm.

I'm sitting in my living room, so it's not like I've gone to a new time zone. It's just like the phone doesn't want to recognize them, and just gets them "when it feels like it."

Sometimes, I'll make a call, and as soon as th call goes through, six texts will come in - i.e., they were all sent previously, and the phone was just recognized by the network. It's REALLY frustrating.
