Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood

I currently have S/W Version 8720_01.17.03. I really have not have any issues with this phone. Some echo and clicking on my wireless headset...but not too bad.

Should I upgrade the software? What are the advantages? Isn't there a chance that I would loose everything on the phone currently, i.e. ringtones, pix, etc. Or do I go with the 'If it ain't broke...' philosophy?

I received my Hollywood from Amp'd and I'm absolutely loving this awesome phone. I love everything about it (I don't ask for much in the first place), even the color and the way it feels. Its got like a kinda softness to it. But oh well, anyone else have the Hollywood? What do you all think about it? By the way, what is the difference between the hollywood and the E815?

reception at my home is rather spotty, and I need to use an external antenna just to make or receive calls. Is there some type of hack which will increase the transmitting / receiving power of the phone? Thanks.

i have over 200 numbers on my phone. is there a way to send the list of names/numbers to my email or somewhere so i can have a copy in case my phone ever dies or gets stolen? i dont want to have to write them all down. thanks in advance

Hey guys - I dont have much info on this right now, but in our new data training with VZW today I had a paper talking about the Moto. E817, as far as I can tell right now seems the same but with the mini usb charging port. No further details yet, Im going to look at the document again tommorow here.

I tried searching the forums but I couldn't find anything. I installed Motorla Phone tools and went to live update and the current version i have is 4.04. Then i tried installing the driver from

and it wouldnt install. And when i connect the usb to the phone, all it does is initialize. wut am i missin here?

I locked the "Settings" menu through the application lock feature of my phone. Found out that when you do this, it locks all the sub-menus. So when I try to change the ring style with the phone closed, the display shows "Enter unlock code". I also set up Shortcut-3 for the ring style change - found out you have to enter the unlock code twice. Didn't like that so I tried to unlock my settings menu in the application lock feature. The display shows the "Settings" menu and all associated sub-menus are "unlocked" but the phone is still prompting me for an unlock code every time I try to access the settings menu. I know the unlock code, not the issue. Just that I've disabled locking the settings and the phone thinks other wise. My only th...

Verizon sales guy told me that bluetooth sync is blocked by Verizon so I would not be able to connect to my PC to sync my phonebook etc... Wife & daughter miserable as I stormed out of the store muttering and refused to buy phones without more research.

So can I BT sync with my PC for my phone book, MP3's etc with a Verizon E815? And How?


Help restore order in my home - please!

Reason I am asking is because i currently have the v710 and notice that mp3, vids, watever. Sound only comes out of one side of the holes for sound on the back. Why did they do that, who knows. I'd like to know if that has beeen fixed for the e815? Cuase if it was, then wow, the phone must be REALLY REALLY loud.

Got the songs on the phone, know how to shuffle through...question...

Is there a way for once the song has ended, for the phone to automatically go to the next song without having to do it manually? I.E. im snowboarding and want to hear all the songs without stopping to flip through...

posted my review 2 days ago...had more time w/phone.

1) Battery capacity/use is much much better than the v710. Used to have to charge the phone every day. Have been going over 48 hours w/normal usage w/o plug in. Maybe the power jack wont' get "worn out" w/ this one

2)Voice clarity better than v710 w/speaker phone or built in headset

3) Voice recog awsome.

still cant' get the BT thing working w/mobile phone tools

just to let you know that I got the GPS for the car which is bluetooth and I pared it with the phn, it works beautifull, I was able to sink the phn book and dial from the tomtom via bluetooth, the inly thing it will not be comparable is reading out the text mesgs.

Can someone please explain to me how to use my 815 as a modem with my windows laptop? i have searced for the info, maybe i am just an idiot, but i cannot find it. i will assume i need some type of cable to connect them together, etc....and some software too? thanks in advance!

Anyone know if there's a way to have phone play a MP3 and then advance to the next one without hitting any buttons on the phone? I have some categories set up but am just able to play one MP3 at a time.

I'm on my second headset (H500) and second phone (E815) and I am still getting the SAME problem (very very frustrating)! 😡

I turn on the bluetooth on the phone, I turn on the headset - and they link. I can use my headset for a call and when done hang up.

My phone then drops the headset and I can't relink them unless I turn off the phone and start all over. 😢

What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions on how to fix this??

The E815 is now at an all time low price, and rumors are flying around that it may be discontinued shortly. The most likely replacement mentioned is an unkown phone referred to as the E817. The device is rumored to have Verizon's standard red interface as well as a mini-usb charging port. I've not seen confirmation, but if this is true, much of the excitement of the E815 could be taken away in the new model.

I have not been able to find the answer for this, so I am hoping I can get some help here. I downloaded a .gif that I would like to use as my start up, and a new sound for the start up as well. I believe that I can access those using BitPim and copy them to back up, and then overwrite them.

First, is that correct? Second, where are the files located, and what are they called? I looked through all the folders in the filesystem and I couldn't find anything that looked like either file.

Anyone have any success with this, and can tell where where the files are located? Thanks!

Is there a way to disable the external camera button? I often press it unknowingly and end up killing the battery.

Recently, my phone has been very sporadic. The following things keep happening at random intervals:
1. The signal level will suddenly drop to nothing, and then slowly climb back up. This cylce will repeat several times in a row.
2. Sometimes when I'm talking to a person, the call will disconnect, but it will still appear as if the call is still connected.
3. Calls will continually drop over and over. On sunday, I was making a phonecall, and had to call the person back 4 times because of disconnects. Mind you this was in an area with almost full reception.

What should I do?
