Palm Treo 650 (CDMA)

Are the rumors true a new treo is due out in August running cobalt and with a huge-ass HDD?

I am going to buy a Treo 650 and want to get a few accessories off the bat on the initial purchase - can anyone recommend the best earpiece to use? I noticed Palm has one - and many other companies.

Also - any other recommended accessories?

What about these bluetooth car kits - are they worth it?

I am soooo excited. I just looked on Verizon homepage and at the bottom left corner, it says Treo 650 Coming soon with a link. Zip code 27284. It won't be long now hopefully. As you all know though, Verizon had the same thing posted for a short time about 4 months before the 600 came out. Hopefully since Verizon already is set up with Palm One, it won't take that long. Just a quick heads up. 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁

I have it from a relaible source at VZW that April 4th is the launch date for the 650

I was in the local Verizon today talking to the techs about a problem with my LG4500, so I decided to probe them on the LG 8000 and Treo 650. They said that their internal sites showed them the LG 8000, but they were not conviced that Verizon was getting the Treo 650. Does anyone here know how far ahead of release the phones begin to show up internal to Verizon techs? The post about Sprint consuming the first quarter production makes sense, but is there any way to confirm this is really what is keeping the phone from Verizon until then?

came across this.. maybe it's a good sign that verizon is getting the treo 650 soon. call up verizon and bother them, maybe someone can learn SOMETHING. 🙂

Just heard from a VZW business rep that the 650 will likely be avail for business users starting "second quarter," most likely by May 1. On whether the 650 will be able to access vzw's new broadband network: "I wouldn't bet against it."

The horrible voice service with this phone eseems to have all but cleared up since I installed the version 1.08 patch which is on Palms web site for the 650. Before, as many many people were complaining, nobody could understand 3/4th of my words very often. Now, I have not had one complaint for the past week since it was installed. It also fixes Versamail and some other smaller issues.

I just typed long post and lost it, so this will be short. But in general... WHY is the TREO better than say an Ipaq with BT plus a BT phone? With my ipaq, i currently can get online via v710 BT only using airtime... no exttra $50/month.

How does synching work with TREO. Can it synch calendar/contacts/email automatically and real time with my home Microsoft Outlook?? I'm not a business using microsoft exchange... so are there any ideas on how to do this? i don't want to have to remember to synch everytime i come home and would like essentially the same setup between outlook and the treo regarding folders, pop emails, etc.

Can you surf the web and take a call at the same time with TREO? How is it different from a blackberry or ...

I really don't understand how everyone in here can be so sure as of to when and if vzw will get the 650. I'm a tech and talked to one of the lab testing guys today and he says that vzw will not be getting it. Why not you ask? .. #1 its not ev-do #2 only additions are a more colorful screen a expansion slot and bluetooth. Thats not enough for then to scrap the 600. Once palm rls's a treo thats ev-do id say it would be a safe bet that, that will be the next treo you see vzw carry.

does anyone know how hard it would be or how long it would take for PalmOne to redesign the Treo 650 radio so that it can use EV-DO?

seems to make sense that Verizon would skip the 650 and just tell PalmOne to develop a model that can use the new 3G network.

I currently have a Treo600 that does not allow calls to come through while the phone is in "data" mode. Whether I am receiving emails through Goodlink or surfing the web, no calls can interrupt these data sessions.

Does the Treo650 have this same problem too? Anyone have any tips to minimize this issue? All it takes is that one important missed phone call to ruin you career.

Why does this phone not roam? If there is a GSM model as well, I don't understand why the phone is digital only. Anyone? Forgive my ignorance on this subject, it just doesn't make any sense to me. This is the only reason why I don't have this phone right now. 😢

I want this phone and want a PDA phone. Im curious, is the only kind of paln to need to add to your calling plan to use the internet is a PCS Vision Package.
Cause with verizon you have to add a PDA plan add on and its 50 dollars.
So im justc curious with Sprint do you to have a PDA add on plan for 50. I looked on Sprints site and it just looked like all you have to add is a PCS Vision plan.

I have heard that a version of the 650 without the camera is available? Where? Is it only through Palm?


This is really great for since I don't really care about the camera plus with my work as consultant, I am not allowed to bring my phone into most customer sites if it has a camera.

T-Mobile has the 600 currently. Will they upgrade to 650?
