I never could find ne thing on here that would work for my G/F's A890. Well I came across this site. http://members.dslextreme.com/users/samsung_a 890/

It works bottom line. They sound just like my VX8100 MP3 ringtones I made.

It takes a little bit more time but they sound so much better then just using a QCP converter.

I'm interested in getting this phone when my I'm up for my NE2 in a couple months. I was wondering how the voice commands work being that there is no speaker phone on this handset. I have a couple questions and any answers would be greatly appreciated:

Can I talk to the phone when I press the voice commands key?

Do I have to put the phone to my ear after speaking the voice commands to the phone or does the phone some how keep it on speaker phone or something like that because I know there is no speaker phone on this phone?

Will the voice commands work with a regular headset plugged in while I am driving?

If anyone knows this: Are the voice commands better on this phone or the N330? I know both phones have the voice command featur...

Pretty small forum for one of the evdo phones compared to the 8100 and e815! I got the 8100 last week (waited for a long time) and am REALLY dissapointed with the reception. Had the vx10 for two years and it was great. Girlfriend has 670 and that seems pretty good, just wondering if anyone has 890 and if they have had problems with it. Also can you record custom ringtones like the vx7000 without any kind of hassle. Any help would be appreciated! 🙂

I just bought this phone... I may or may not turn it in for the new LG 8100. For now, is there ANY ANY ANY possible way to put a different picture on the sub / front screen, other than the yuuuccckkyyy Preloaded ones there already?... when I go to change the wallpaper for sub LCD, it automatically opens the preloaded folder and gives me no option to choose from my own pics. Thank ya in advance!

I just got an a890 and 2 a670s this weekend.

I am very disapointed so far.
The signal strength is very poor compared to my vx4400.

the reception and voice quality is even worse.

I dont know what everyone is raving about with the reception and signal quality of the a890, but this is really bad.... and i thought the vx4400 was bad.

I cannot belive that the manuf. get away with making such crappy prods.


The outside screen is unreadable when no back light. No way to activate the front screen without opening and closing the phone.

Camera is awful.

If you dont hold the earpiece exactly in the right spot on your ear, you cannot hear anything.

VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Im really interested into switching from verizon but i hate to give up my tmobile samsung E-715, best phone ever! I was looking at this phone and the a670 or even some of the Lg's and Palmphones...

can anyone make a suggestion i'm looking for mp3 compatiblity if possible, txt messaging, and normal phone usage!

I just got this phone today, I haven't been able to learn how to use all of the features just yet, but I've been trying to use the camera.

QUESTION, is it just my phone, or when u swivel the camera to the outside, does it make everything upside down. How are you taking your pictures, do you turn your phone upside down everytime you wanna take a picture? That has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard of, if i swivel the camera inside everything is right side up, but i cant use ethe flash ... is there any way around this or are all of u a890 users just taking ur pics upside everytime?

This phone is awesome but Verizon sucks is my conclusion. They have blocked all ringtones from being set as ringers when someone calls. It sucks. Verizon sucks. They want to make you buy ****ty ringtones from GetItNow. I don't want their ringtone, I want my own custom tones!

Has anyone figured out a hack for this yet?

I have an a670 now and I am generally pleased with it but I am adding a new line and figure I might want to give this phone a try. Right now I use my data cable to connect to the verizon Express Network that hits speeds of about 240 KB/s and only takes minutes away. Does the a890 work with this same cables as the a670, can I use the phone as a modem and only have minutes deduct, and is the connection faster with EV-DO or will it be the same 240KB/s?

Alright guys, I need your help. I have been using my old v60c as a replacement for my a670 that I lost. The v60's antennae broke today, and VZW cannot fix it. I am in desperate need of a new phone. I am strongly considering getting the samsung a890 tonight, because I don't think I can wait for the e815. Any suggestions? I know you guys do. Thanks.

Ok, so we have a really expensive V-Cast phone with a megapixel camera (not sure how useful due to limited connectivity options). There is no bluetooth to transfer the images to a pc. There is no memory card option to hold the unavoidably larger pictures that a megapixel phone brings with it and with only 4mb of onboard memory it is going to frustrate many customers. I wonder why samsung has been avoiding bluetooth and memory cards. They still don't have one phone with those options that I can think of when those features are standard on other high end phones of the same price range. Does anyone know why?

What's with the bluish tint in all my pictures? Also, how come when I take a picture, it comes out all faded looking? It doesn't look like that just before I take the picture. I had the a670 before this phone and the camera was awesome.

WHAT GIVES??!

why is it when I am ready to take a picture the quality looks good and after I take it the picture looks faded and not so good? Thanks for the help.
