MS Voice Command

Anyone using this with their 6600? I've got it and it's nice. I wish there were a way to assign the voice command button to the button on the headset. If anyone know how to do this please let me know. Thanks.

gps programs? (directions ect)

i've never owned a pda/phone before, but my new job is all on-site computer repairs, so my question to the people that already own this phone is this - can you use a gps program on the phone with its built in gps reciever to use it to navigate you to your next destination? similiar to the dashmount $1200 units. this wont be the main reason for buying the phone, but rather email and scheduling are the main draw, however if it could double as a navigation unit that would really make it worth the $550 that i've seen it advertised for.

Java on 6600 (Sprint)

I have a remote security camera application that requires either:

1) Java Applets to run on the Pocket PC (this runs in Jpeg mode)
*or*
2) Supports ActiveX control and will allow unsigned ActiveX controls to be downloaded to the PocketPC. (this runs in MPEG4 mode)

The application allows me to access my cameras at home (home security). It runs fine on laptops and desktops from work but I can't get the 6600 to work. My 6600 is the cell phone combo PocketPC.

I looked at Netfront 3.1 but it says its not Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition compatible.

Windows Mobile SE browser question

I surfed on a 6600 today. The manager of the corporate store told me the unit was updated with the latest software, so I assume it had Windows Mobile Second Edition. The browser disappointed me. I couldn't access a very-important-for-work website; I just got an error page with some java source code.

Does anyone know if there is a GIN/BREW browser that will handle Java on PPCs? (I'm actually waiting for the Samsung i730, but it has the same Windows Mobile SE operating system.)

Wireless Modem For My Laptop???

Just wondering if I can use the XV6600 to connect my laptop to the internet. I was able to do this pretty easily with my V710 and I'm hoping I can do the same with my XV6600. And if it is possible, can you do it using an infrared connection. Thanks.

XV660 Bluetooth/Acura TL Handsfree Compatibility?

I am in the market for a bluetooth phone from verizon and I am highly considering this phone.

My question is - has anyone had any experience with this phone and the Acura TL? I recently purchased the Acura TL and would like to know if this phone will work with it's bluetooth Handsfree system.

Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks very much! 😁

Question on features stated on Phone Scoop

Phone scoop does not list the 6600 series as having the following features, is this true?

FEATURES NOT LISTED:
Data-capable (modem ability)
EMS/MMS/Picture-Messaging
Ringer ID (caller ID specific ringers)
Voice Dialing

Is it true none of these features are found in the 6600 series? I just find that hard to believe....

finally

For some reason, my contact at verizon for business sales for my company knew nothing about the phone until today. So I just ordered it and it should be here tomorrow.

Bluetooth functionality in cars

I recently tried (for 10 minutes) this phone in a Lexus with bluetooth in the dash. While it would pair and function to a limited degree, it would not ring (like the v710) and the range indicator states "out of range." With this message, you can only call out using the phone and not the dashboard phone functions.

Anyone else had more luck?
Does this phone have OBEX profiles?
Did the new software fix some of these problems and the phone I tried was perhaps the old software?

Any thoughts would be appreciated . . .

Thanks

Tell me please

Folks what's the difference between PPC-6600, PPC 6601 & XV6600 (HTC Harrier)?

I am just looking at moving from my Kyocera 7135 to one of these. Any comments would be welcome as I am picking up vibes that the phone function isn't up to much and that battery life if the phone is used doesn't live up to reputation or has this been addressed since last year?

Cheers

SD camera options for Non-camera 6600?

I have been told that you can add an outboard camera via the SD slot to the non-camera version of the 6600. (even a mega-pixel one). Is this viable, and can you help me with the pro's and cons other than not being able to store picture onto an SD card because the camera is using the slot? Thanks.

PPC 6600 Software Update

I have a simple question: I have a PPC 6600. AudioVox has an update on their website for the PPC 6601. Can I use this update for my PPC 6600??? This update was a major update for the phone. I had a PPC 6601 and I updated my 6601 with the recommended AudioVox update and it greatly improved my phones speed especially the Bluetooth issues that I had. If this update cannot be applied to the PPC 6600 then were can I get the update from? Does this phone already have the update? Here is the address where the update is: http://www.audiovox.com/webapp/wcs/stores/ser vlet/ProdLinksCmd?type=upg&catalogId=10001&st oreId=10001&categoryId=PPC6601KIT&langId=-1&p age=&urlString=&productId=&brand=
I look forward to hearing from anyone on th is topic, Thanks ...

Voice Command

Has anyone had much experience using Voice Command with this phone? Sometimes it works just as expected and sometimes it will respond with the name to call, but doesn't complete the call (just a "boop").

WiFI/Cam/BT?

I have seen from this forum that the camera version will be out from Verizon soon... can anyone confirm the other items here for me:

1) Can I use it via blue tooth from my laptop to get my laptop high speed EVDO data through dial-up networking as I do with a cable and my Kyocera 7135 today? Does Verizon just charge minutes for data access as with 1XRT on my current phone without a separate data only plan?

2) What is the best BT earpiece on the market? Jabra? Logitech? Other?

3) Any word on WiFi being enabled on these units? A lot I have read says it is in there... but I see no mention of it being enabled on Verizon, Sprint or Cingular versions.

Thanks.

"Extra Digits"

Does anyone know of a way to get "extra digits" in a speed dial or contact listing for phone dialing. I want to be able to automate not only calling a number but also the next phase for accessing voice mail with user id and password.
