Samsung SGH-E316 / SGH-E317

I visited my local AT&T Wireless store (i'm buying the phone the first day it comes out) and they said it would come out around this time next month. Keep checking like I will.

I saw a demo at an At&t Wireless store in NYC today.

Retail: $319.99
w/discounts & 2-year contract: $199.99

pretty sweet looking but too expensive.

It looks like the phone will be coming out for ATT in the next few days, so does anyone have a clue when Cingular will be releasing it?

Well... Kind of. They have an ad on NBC advertising the coverage of the Olympics that you can get on your AT&T phone, and lo and behold, the person in the ad is holding an E316. I'd say that's a good sign.

In other news tidbits, not sure if it's been posted here, but this phone is set to replace the P107 on Cingular in September. Looks like AT&T will probably have it a lot earlier.

Does anyone have any info on the e317 for cingular?

We recieved the phone yesterday at my store in Maryland. But for those who claim to have it, I have a tough time swallowing that. It is NOT availible in AT&Ts NCR system to be rung out yet.

So uh...yea right.

Anyways we dont know the price of the phone but as the Samsung rep tells me, $200 with a $50 mail in rebate.

The phone is slightly larger then an X426. It has a completely new menu layout and the camera quality is impressive. The zoom is better then the V600 I cant tell you about quality until I actually MMS one and download it. I'll give it a go today...

Ok guys here is hte scoop, the phone is on my desk as I type this.

First of all, the good news is that the voice quality isnt bad like the X426. But the reception is poor.

The wap browser is 1.0 so no enhanced graphics or mmode while surfing. This is supposed to be a new phone? Also the GPRS is super slow! If possible even slower then the very poor X426!

The software while user friendly as always for Samsung is still very sluggish.

Picture quality is ok, the zoom and resolution are fantastic, but not V600 quality. Also, when you download a wallpaper, regardless of size it does not fit it to screen so there is always a white border. SO ANNOYING!

i knew cingular and att would do this, that's why i hated selling so many of the x427's for cingular....aaahhhh!

I've been with cingular for a while and was thinking of switching to Sprint. Because i love Samsung phones and the VGA 1000 is a phone that has everything I want. But now that there is one almost identical to it to be released for Cingular soon I'll hold on to my Motorola C331t for a bit longer.

I think tmobile should get this as well

I spoke to Joe Webster, our Samsung rep for the northeast. He said he will be in stores June 28th for training on the E316. He estimates a national release sometime in July.

This phone looks great, too bad it doesn't have a mirror for selfportrait pic taking..

Unless I'm missing something, please point out if there is a mirror or not..

Oh, another question.. Do Samsung phones have good picture taking quality in general?

Cingular will have it around the middle of august.

Any info on release date or price??

Anybody know if this phone has voice dialing? It does not state so on the info page, but I would assume most phones coming out today would have this. I know the samsung A670 (CDMA) has it.

I want the Samsung SGH-E316 so unbelievably bad. This site says 2nd quarter of 2004, but i cant get more info from anyone, samsung or att. that really bothers me. IF ANYONE HAS ANY INFO ON THIS PHONE, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!!! Rich is there anyway for u to get more info?? ALSO FOR ALL U WIRELESS SALES PEOPLE OUT THERE, if u work at att, can u ask ur samsung rep????????? I REALLY WANT TO FIND OUT MORE!!!!! I need a phone by june 17, since im going away for a month, and im trying to decide if i should risk waiting 4 this, or getting the x426 now??? I really like the x426, but it doesnt have external caller id, which bothers me, so this phone looks so good. Thanks

I read in a forum, that the samsung sgh-e316's launch kits were expected to be recieved at att wireless stores on june 1, how far from when the launch kits are sent, are the phones released??

It is interesting, because the samsung e316 is on the rebate with ** next to it, saying (when available) But the rebate ends july 10, so wouldnt they want people to have at least a month to use the rebate, which would make this phone come out by june 10??
