Just got to play with one

Very impressed!! Yes, it's only a VGA camera but it kicks my 6000's butt. The Bluetooth headset is extremely light, and has a 6 hour talktime. The main LCD is bigger than I thought, as is the outer display. You can also utilize the outer display to take self-portraits, I love that. The rep confirmed for me that we (USCC) will be carrying this phone, along with Verizon and Alltel. The retail price will be around ONLY $270!! I cannot wait for this to come out!

Not too many side-buttons is GREAT !!!

I have the V710 but I really don't like the fact that it has 4 side-buttons. This Nokia 6255i only has 2 side-buttons -- Volume and voice memo. Plus, the voice memo button is located WAY up and out of the way. So.... I'm hoping this phone comes out before my 30 day period with the V710 is up.

This phone is going to be released with Virgin!

I was just reading the howard forums, one guy was saying that he directly emailed nokia and they told him that Virgin Mobile Usa is going to be releasing the nokia 6255. I hope he wasn't lying. 😁

FWIW...

Nokia has the 6255i on the "soon to be released" (couple weeks) section of their site.
Details, presumably, to follow.

MMC: How large will the 6255i go?

On the other Nokia phones that take MMC cards the word is the 1 Gigabyte cards work fine, a few little quirks when using a card that large but all-in-all it works.

I was under the impression that due to that fact the 6255i would have no issues using a high capacity card-- well according to the Nokia Asia-Pacific site:

http://www.nokia-asia.com/nokia/0,,56183,00.html »

The phone can only accept cards to 64 MB-- now again this is the Asian-Pacific Nokia site, and as best I can tell the information looks dated as hell, anyone have any intelligent input or thoughts?

I will be SEVERLY dissapointed if it is capped to 64mb.

Celluar South; Nokia 6255i; *Update*

This is the text of an e-mail I just got back from corporate.

I apologize. Nokia had a setback in the final revision of the phone. They delayed the shipment of the phones until the first week of April.

So it looks like another month-- ugh. I am not pleased in the least. 👿

Nokia 6255i. Cellular South. Next week.

Aching for a release date, I called Cellular South sales again, this time acting upset and very unhappy with my equipment, I informed the sales person that my contract is due to expire on the first of March and if I am not given the option of being able to buy a phone that will be at least as good as the phones I see being sold on Verizon's network I am not going to renew.

The guy told me that the Audiovox 6600 Palm/Phone was just released and that a brand new Nokia flip phone will be in stores the later half of next week.

Not sure what that might mean for those of you on other networks but you can be sure it isn't bad news!

Will Sprint carry this phone?

Can somebody please confirm if Sprint will or will not carry this phone? Or is there a way I can buy one and activate it to Sprint? I am in the process of changing carriers, but I really want this phone and am willing to hold out switching to get it. Any information is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!!

MoSoSo software & the 6255i

Some of the Mobile Social Software programs I've seen descriptions of sound pretty neat. I wonder if this phone will be able to run any of them. See

under "MoSoSo sites" for a listing of them.

It's been almost a year!!

This forum was started last April. That's almost a year ago.

I say the phone will never be released (at least by a nation wide carrier.

Cellular South Customers...

Just an FYI (not that I imagine anyone else to be on this tiny ass network) Cellular South has completed testing of this phone and is awaiting shipment to stores.

Confirmed this afternoon.

I Have A Feeling!

I think that virgin mobile will be releasing this phone. I already know that they will be releasing a nokia around February-March, but I heard from Howard Forums that they will be releasing a nokia with external display, video camera, and bluetooth. This phone fits this desciption. FINGERS CROSSED! 😳

Still a "Go" for Feb or March '05

Talked with a Nokia rep today and she said the phone is still slated for the top of 2005 for US Cellular and Verizon. She believes that it will be an amazing phone.
I own a US Cellular location and this phone will put the Moto V710 to shame. So many bad reviews.
Nokia has always made quality products so I can't see them introducing a clamshell that has issues.
Can't wait.
